I grate, and add to wash.
A few years ago, my best friend told me she was making her own laundry detergent, and I told her I'd never take the time to do that myself--but then she made me a batch, and I was sold. I put one bar of this soap in a food processor to finely grate it, and then i add 1 cup of Borax, 1 cup of washing soda, and almost a full cup of Oxi-Clean. I mix it well with my hands (that's soothing, I might add) and then use a tiny coffee scoop per load. I think it's a great stain fighter (and I have a 12-year-old boy, so . . . . ) I buy all of this from Wal-Mart because the prices are much lower here than elsewhere. So I now faithfully make my own detergent, and I try to never say never!
I buy my Fels Naptha in the Walmart store. It's in the laundry isle usually by the Washing Soda and Borax. I really love the smell of it too. Very clean smelling. I use it to make home made laundry detergent which has been all the rage for several years now. I've done about 5-6 different recipes and I finally settled on liking a powder recipe the best... but in all the recipes I've tried online they all use Fels Naptha. I don't have any other use for Fels Naptha other than making laundry detergent. I know that it is called "the Barkeepers' friend' for some reason. So obviously it's good at cleaning bars? If you are interested in trying homemade laundry detergent there are a zillion recipes out there and you really have to experiment a lot to find one that works best for you and the kind of washing machine you have. So just be prepared to put in a lot of time up front to get the right mix for you. The results are worth it. No lugging heavy bottles home from the store and you save hundreds of dollars in the end.
I grate this up and add it to my own recipe for home-made Laundry soap. It's like a scrub brush on stains, and it removes any bad odors from working, sweat, or animals. So inexpensive and definitely does a great job.
So cheap!!!! Great pretreatment for laundry and mixed with other stuff an inexpensive laundry soap!! Way cheaper than the name brands!! Thanks y'all so very much for all y'all do!!!
I love how well Fels-Naptha cleans my laundry. I scrape from the bar into the washer. On particularly bad stains, I rub the stain directly with the bar. Good stuff!
i love the free shipping i only paid 97 cents for each bar an its great for stains. i ordered 3 an got fast free shipping awesome....love it
What isn't to love about Fels-Naptha. This is the best stuff I have found to get dirt out of baseball pants. IT isn't the easiest thing to do since you have to rub it on the material but it is so worth every penny. Have some on hand at all times.
I buy this to make my own laundry soap powder. I used to think this was "old fashion" bar that my Mom
This is my first time using this soap. I ordered these soap one week apart. The first order that I received was fine. I love the scent of the soap. The soap that I received in my second order was totally different. I either received an old or else a bad batch. The soap is orange and it has a horrible scent. This soap is usually yellow and has a different scent. I would recommend this soap and give it five stars if I was sent the yellow soap. I attached the attached photo.
