Purchased this game when our first grader was having trouble in math, mainly with money. This game is great. She loves it and I feel good because she is learning. Also, with the leap path I don't have to stand over her shoulder to see what she exceling in and what she needs help with. This game boosts her confidence in math. Thank you Leap Frog.

I can not recommend this product enough. My daughter is a very young Kindergartener, and as we were told, Kindergarten truly is the "new first grade". I'm so thankful that LeapFrog Learning cartridges have been able to supplement my daughter's learning in ways that she views as "play". Leap School Math is filled with the sort of curriculum that is taught in my daughter's NYC public school, and the rewards in Leap School math always make her feel so proud. For example, in LeapSchool Math, if a customer wants to purchase three items, the player must bring one plus two items to the customer. Children also have to identify areas with "the most" people and measure weight and volume levels to build customized teddy bears, bubble bath potions and video games. Like all learning cartridges, there are multiple levels, thus growing with the child, or leveling down if needed. I think that this cartridge appeals to both genders with multiple options for accessories and characters, and it is engaging and fun. I'm also pleased that it has proven to build my daughter's confidence.

My 5 year old son loves this game

I added several games books on my son's leappad 2 and this is the games he loves the most. He is learning math skills that are applied to real life situations, rather than just learning the math he is learning the context of it's usefulness. The game also seems to adapt well it started by asking him to give change useing dimes and quarters when he couldn't it changes to only pennies and then started to teach him that a dime is 10c etc. He is a little reluctant to do "work" with me so slipping the learning into a game he enjoys is great.

We got it. She's really engaged by it. The math presentation is a good mix of numeral recognition, simple counting, and light arithmetic. The mini-games within introduce each new 'level' very softly and never grows too hard too quickly. The animations are colorful and high-quality. Overall, a much better product than what I've seen of the games licensed from TV/Movie characters.

Students make & sell products to raise money. They learn about production, marketing & selling. 1 negative: There are only 3 products - stuffed animals, bubble bath, and video games. With similar processes for each product, my kids lost interest after a while.

better than leapschool reading

we really were unimpressed with the leapschool reading. i found it really lacked educational value, and it made me almost not want to try out the math cartridge. but it really does help with beginning math skills! including practice counting coins. (1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent pieces). this is pretty cool. the mini games utilize some math skills too... like identifying even and odd numbers, and putting numbers in correct number order, counting up or down. the whole premise of the game is about creating products to sell in your stand, and advertising to costumers so they come to your stand, and selling the products! kind weird... teaching kids about selling stuff and making money... but, i think it's good for life in this society. she likes it pretty well. i feel a little weird about a game all about money at her age, but ...over all we like it.

I was trying to find a game that would help my 5yr old learn how to count change. Unfortunately this game only confused him. The coins are not called by their true names; i.e. penny, nickel, dime. The game calls the coins mints. What's the point of that? It would have also been very helpful if the game counted out the money that is being brought over when making change. Instead of having the child bring over random “mints” the game continually tells him he is wrong when he checks the answer.

Not helpful with counting money

I wanted something that would help my grandson recoginze coins and currency and understand their value. The description of Leap School Math indicated that would include this but it only talks about banking, etc. Would like to see Leap Frog introduce an app for teaching money.
