The LeapFrog LeapTV Educational Active Video Gaming System is something you definitely want under your tree this year. This gaming system is a perfect combination of education, fun, and physical activity all wrapped into one system. First of all, the controller is perfect for little hands, but not too small for older children, either. My three year old can manage the controller pretty well, with a little help in the beginning. I like that the controller can spread in two different ways, one like a straight stick and the other option is more like handle bars almost. The positioning of the controller depends on what game you are playing. The set up was really easy, as everything you need is included in the box. One thing I really like about this system is that the games you play are cartridges and not a CD like a lot of systems, which is in my opinion very important seeing as the age group that will be playing with this system. The fact that the children cannot scratch or otherwise ruin the games easily is certainly a plus. As mentioned, I have a 3 year old and I found the games out right now may be a little too complex for him at first, but I believe after some practice (and obviously getting older) he can really benefit from the system. The fact that the system itself says the age range is 3+ and the games are all 4+ might be something to do with that. I am sure after some time, more games with come out but this is just something that happens when a system is brand new. I would definitely recommended this product and the only thing I would change is to make some games that fit the system for younger children since the age range on the gaming system itself doesn't match up with the ages on the games. Other than that, I absolutely love the product, and my son can grow with it, learn with it, have fun with it, and most importantly in my book, get off the couch and be active all at the same time!
The LeapFrog LeapTV Educational Active Video Gaming System is the best LeapFrog product I have owned thus far!! It is similar to the Wii or Kinect but better because the children are learning while they are playing! Parents don't have to feel guilty about kids spending time on their video games either. Most of the games are interactive also so the children are up moving and excercising while learning. You really can't ask for anything more from a gaming system product. I've seen about 10 different cartridges/games to play with the LeapTV. Some are the characters that kids watch on Disney or Disney Jr. It doesn't matter which game you are playing you are usually learning mathematics or reading etc. This system was easy to set up. We used the Wifi and just had to put in our personal password and it connected with no problems. The game system comes with a game called Pet Play where kids can own and take care of a pet. They get to design it and name it. But you will want to buy additional game cartridges to widen their learning experience. Up to 5 people can make a profile on the LeapTV and it saves the progress of each game to the player who's playing. Each game has an age range on them and it typically is for 4-7 years but I think it's fun for all ages. The whole family gets involved and there's lots of laughing and giggling!!
LeapTV is a great first system to own, especially for younger children, as all the games are geared towards children between 3-8. I have 3 kids 6 and under so thie LeapTV was perfect for out family. We had been seriously considering buying a game console for our kids for about the last year or so but I was a little reluctant thinking they were still too young for the other major gaming consoles on the market. I was delighted to see this new LeapTV console was released. It is a much better option with age appropriate content plus it promotes physical activity as well as education. Kids will love seeing their favorite characters as well as themselves on the screen and all my kids are able to play it, even my 3 year old had no trouble figuring it out with a little guidance. Setting up the system is simple and it only took a couple minutes. An initial internet connection is required for registration but the console is Wi-Fi capable which makes registration a breeze if you have a wireless router. Other than registration the only time you will need internet connection is if you want to download any new apps or games from the LeapFrog site but it is not necessary to play the cartridge games. There will be a LeapTv app center on the site starting in December. The console itself does not come with any games installed but when you register you can download Pet World for free. However I would recommend that you do purchase a game or 2 when you buy the system. The graphics are outstanding and the games will keep your child occupied and entertained all while teaching them and getting them moving. The games also have audio instructions for kids who are too young to read so even the youngest kids can play. Every game cartridge has several games within it so each cartridge provides quite a few activies and will keep them engaged. Some of the games are more physical than others such as the Dance and Learn and the Sports Game. There is a huge library of games to choose from and many more are coming. There are many multi player games so you may want to purchase a second remote if you have more than one child but so many of the 2 player games don't need a second remote. This will be a great way to pass the upcoming cold winter days and burn off some of that extra energy. The LeapTV game console is brilliantly designed and grows with your child. It auto adjusts the level to fit your child and each child has their own account with a different character they choose that keeps track of their past personal progress. With a huge library of cartridge games, game downloads and videos you can expect to get years of use and the price is reasonable affordable compared to many of the other gaming systems on the market. It is everything I was looking for in a gaming system for my kids plus more. We feel this console is definitely a better fit for us than other motion gaming consoles because it is built specifically for kids and they are learning while having fun. They may still be in front of the TV but I feel better knowing they learning while they play.
Ravanne is 3 ½ and Taylor is 2 Yes the system is targeted to ages 3-8 but even Taylor is already learning. They both have a blast playing Leap TV. It gets them jumping around and moving their little bodies to the music and they love seeing themselves on tv. It helps with Memory skills, Motor Skills and they love to interact with their favorite cartoon characters. With this system they are learning and don't even realize it. It is so much fun watching them play together and having sisterly bonding fun. This system will grow with them over the next couple of years then they can teach their New baby sister (2 weeks old) when it is her turn to learn and dance to the music. This system is impressive because there is a lot of versatility in the way that kids are able to play - using body gestures, a controller, or converting the controller to more of a pointer shapes and in different directions. It is loaded with educational objectives such as practicing math, reading, and problem solving. And as the New games come out they will learn even more and it will continue to grow with them.
I received a LeapTV for the purpose of review and testing to share out honest opinion. I'm a mother of a 4 yr old and 7 yr old that love gaming. The LeapTV was really easy to hook up to our television and easy to get started. I swear the kids are more techy than I am. The LeapTV is plug and play game play in a matter of minutes. There's 3 ways to play: body, controller and point play. There's a wonderful selection of games already loaded for kids to chose from and my 6 yr old immediately went for Spiderman game. I was really impressed with all of the game play within this one game. He sat and played with the controller, then stood up to play another part and even had to answer educational questions to move up to the next level within the game. They were perfect for his 1st grade level. He's an okay reader but the narrator made it easy for him. There was a few times where he needed words to be repeated and we weren't able to figure out if that was an option but we guessed and most of the time he was right. with the answer. I was so impressed on how he was able to answer the questions. Fact is this was probably the very first time I've seen him excited about learning and answering questions. When the game asked for him to change the position of the controller to move on to the next part of the game he knew exactly what to do. LeapTV had my kids physically active,, mentally learning, and excited about LeapTV. There's so much more to LeapTV with apps and video's and we can't wait to experience it all. LeapTV is kids safe learning at a level that is right for them. No worrying about in appropriate content. It's Educational learning fun right in the comfort of your home and we love it. We've been Leap Frog fans for many years this just gives us one more reason to love LeapFrog.
I received THE LEAPFROG LEAP TV EDUCATIONAL ACTIVE VIDEO GAMING SYSTEM from THE SPARK REVIEWER PROGRAM, the packaging was sleek, clean and easy to open. The leap frog gaming system consist of :The Console, Camera, Mount, Transforming controller with two modes, HDMI Cable, AC power adapter,16GB of memory Built-in Wi-Fi/Ethernet port for downloads, it feature three easy ways to play Body motion, Pointer play, Classic control and it comes with a ninety day manufacture's warranty. It took ten minutes to connect the game system to the television, it is a light weight game system, it is not bulky and very easy to store, the games are sold separately it is good for kids from ages three to eight. The instructions are easy to understand, the leapfrog gaming system allows the kids to see themselves on TV, kids will get a good physical workout as well as problem solving, reading and learning Mathematics (Addition, Subtraction, Patterns, Shapes). Your entire family and friends will be able to play and enjoy the game system. I would recommend The Leapfrog Game System to families with elementary aged children at home, I absolutely love the game system it will get lots of play time at my house.
This is a wonderful system that is good for your child's educational and physical wellbeing. While learning your child will be having fun playing games and dancing. It is very important for our children to exercise daily and this is a fun way for them to get that much needed exercise. Included in each system are the following items: console, console stand, motion-sensing camera, camera mount, HDMI cable, AC power adapter, and transforming controller with wrist strap. The system can be used in three ways: Body movement, the controller or converting it to a pointer. Make sure the cords are out of the way and there it enough room for the children to play. I have an older model TV that does not have the HDMI slot. Therefore I can't use it on my TV. I had to contact LeapFrog and this is what they told me. “The LeapTV should only be used with televisions that have an HDMI input, and the supplied HDMI cord should be used for the connection from the LeapTV console to your television.” So I before you buy this product make sure your TV will be able to connect to this device. Also be sure to buy a video game cartridge for the LeapFrog LeapTV Gaming System.
I recently received this LeapFrog LeapTV Educational Active Video Gaming System in the mail and have only played it a couple of times and it has been okay. I got the LeapFrog LeapTV Sports game to play with it and in some of the games the system would not configure. It would tell us to stand in this outline of a person and would try to recognize us so we could play the game and could not do it. My 5 year old daughter, my husband and myself all tried to let the camera configure to us and it would not work. This system comes with a pre loaded game on it. It was a little pet game where you can take care of an animal of your choice. Some of the animal choices are unicorn, penguin, and monkey. You play games to feed it, clean it, play with it and decorate the surroundings. My 5 year old daughter really liked the game. It was pretty fun for the adults to play too. My daughter also liked the fact that she could see herself on the tv actually playing the games. Bottom line, this was a pretty fun gaming system and I can't wait to see what other games we can get to play!
So far this gaming system is a hit with my boys. It is very easy to play, it gives great instructions that are easy to understand along with pictures to show them exactly what to do. The set up could not have been easier, you plug in 3 things, the power cord, the camera and the HDMI cable to the TV. PLEASE NOTE: you must have an HDMI outlet/slot on your TV for this system to work, there is no other option that I can see to plug in the older style cables (video/audio). I found that out when I tried first setting this system up on our older tube TV, so we set up the system on our main TV in the living room, which was actually better because it gave them a lot more room to jump around during game play. My only downfall is that it can be pretty dark in our living room, so when its in camera mode it makes for a dark picture on the screen and the game cannot sense the kids movements as well, so that is something I will have to fix. The system only comes with 1 built in game called "Pet Play World", in the instructions it says you have to register the system in order to download it, but that is not true, you just need to finish the set up process in order to start playing. This game is pretty cute, definitely a good start up game. Another thing to point out is that you do not need WiFi or even connect this system to the internet to play. When you first turn the system on it takes you step by step through the set up process, so when I got to the part to connect to my WiFi I opted to skip that step. I contacted customer service via email and although they assured me that the WiFi was only used to download games and process updates as needed and that the camera did not connect to the WiFi, only to the TV, I am going to leave it disconnected for my own peace of mind. I would rather just buy the game cartridges and let the kids switch them out as they want. Overall I am happy with this gaming system, the kids love the games and I love that it sneaks in a little learning.
Got this to use in the downstairs playroom when the grandkids come over. My wi-fi connection apparently doesn't reach that far, but I thought I could just use it anyway because you have to insert a game cartridge. It won't let me do anything, however, until I register online. I'm going to give it to my kid to set up at her house and it should be fine. The games are around $23 each. It says there will be a LeapTV app center starting Dec 2014 (now) but I couldn't find apps for it on the website so I don't know how much they will cost. I think that's important because this all seems pretty expensive. It comes with one controller which seems sturdy and the right size, but it has a list of steps to take when it goes into "sleep mode". A second one is about $23. Each game is preset to use either motion, pointer or classic controller. Each cartridge has a different combo of these; for example not all of them have a motion sensor game. I was disappointed to find out that the Spiderman, Guppies, Pixar and Dora cartridges do not have motion sensor games. It's important to me that the kids move around. You have to read the back of each cartridge to find out.
