I have had this tablet for about 3 weeks now , and can say it is a full productive portable PC. I have bought the optional dock with HDMI and USB 3.0 and hooked it to a 24" monitor and it is my work pc. Even connected an external Bluray to the dock and it can play movies. Not a gaming PC obviously , but does a lot for what you need. I have purchased the better of the 2 models with 4 gigs ram , 128gb storage , and 64 bit os. I use it a lot on the go , and connect to the dock at work. Cuts down the weight as compared to lugging a laptop to and from work everyday. If you need something lite , but also full windows it is recommended. Greaat battery life (about 7 hours , depending on use) and high quality display with Full HD+ resolution. Great! These tablets just keep getting better , so lets see what comes out next from Lenovo!
I bought this because it's one of the only tablets with 4GB or RAM, 128GB of storage and 64-bit OS. I loaded Solidworks 2012 and Photoshop CC and edited some photos. All the functions were available and even though it was not as fast as laptops with Core processors, I could get the job done. Excellent product for $500 some dollars!
All and all considering the competition, it would be either this or the new HP business tablet. Pros: Finally x64! You can really see the difference on apps with a larger footprint. Outlook comes to mind. Good construction. Wacom.. Big plus for contractors and students. Good processor. Cons: I don't like that the battery isn't easily serviced. Windows 8 (Pro definitely helps b/c of domain join, etc) Suggestions: Would love to see tegra 4i Android variant. Seriously. This is an odd idea, but I think a battery that tilts and screws in (with a rubber gasket) would be revolutionary and greatly desired. Detachable keyboard with yoga style hinge. Think MagSafe charge connections that split the hinge in half.
When I purchased the Thinkpad 10, it's different. Even we cannot easily understand the CPU bench mark result in between TPT2(6.6 of 10) and Thinkpad10(6.9 of 10), however, I can felt considerable the performance enhancement. I think it the best windows tablet considering battery time, weight and performance. However, it also had some problem. My tablet 10 had rear-facing camera issue with error code 10 STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE, and stylus pen was not in the original box even it should be in the box. I think the camera issue can be initial hardware defect, and missing stylus pen in original package can be a mistake by Q.C. Response from Lenovo web sales customer service was even worse. When I report thse issue to them, their response was just go lenovo forms and support section to find the solution by myself. I really disappointed the Q.C of lenovo and response of customer service for initial defective product.
I got the higest model for only $502 totally (with cover and pens). Unfortunately, the low price only maintained several hours. So, i was lucky! Based on the price that I paid, it's definitely cost effectively. it's a good tool for taking notes. Compared with most of other win tablets, it has barely defection. e.g. Dell venue 8 pro has poor bluetooth performance, lenovo miix2 8 has frequent system failure(bluescreen). Cons: using non-universal cable for charge, USB port provide week electrical power which means it can't power a portable hhd. in addition, the battery life is just acceptable and is far shorter than ipads: only maximum 8 hours' slight web browse. this is not enough for me.
Why go from such a slick design as the think tablet 2 to this bulky cheap feel design? The only change to the Thinkpad Tablet 2 that you needed to make was a beefier processor more ram and a better screen(optional but it looks good on specs). The magnetic dock port was a nice add on but I would not have traded that for the added weight. Where is my stylus slot!!! :( If it is not attached to the tablet I will be lost quite often. Besides, it does not have the seamless experience as with a detached stylus. Now in your mind, you have to grab the tablet and hopefully remember to grab the detached stylus too. Where I used to just be able to grab the tablet and go. This tablet is just too heavy for extended use. The glossy finish as opposed to the mat rubbery finish on the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is too slippery and it feels cheap. Go back please and improve in an already beautifully designed product.
I have a thinkpad tablet 2, and I believe it has better style than this new device. The PENCIL IS WITH THE TABLET..!! But .. We still waiting this tablet perform with 3.0 USB.. Please Lenovo people, give us that.!!
Pros: Light weight Bright and Loud Stylus pen support Looks sexy Extremely slim and smooth. Cons: Extremely fragile Starting a program is *always* an exercise in patience Fingerprint magnet Stylus requires intimate user acclimation. Expensive accessories. Non customization Brief Conclusion: This device, looks sexy, and if it were faster, and less obvious that Lenovo wants you to buy all their stupid accessories then it would be a safer device to buy. All in all, it works with one note extremely satisfactorily (which is all I really need) for as long as you don't use it for over an hour. Though, its ability to work well with one note, is not a Lenovo factor that is because Microsoft has a good software. The product warranty is difficult to navigate. The hardware on the device is fragile, and may require knowledge of soldering and hardware repair when warranty is finished.
Product description was different when tablet was ordered. it said tablet has 3G/4G connectivity but actual tablet did not have that connectivity. Checked under device manager and found nothing except wifi.
Has nice build quality in hand. The tablet gets hot and slow when charging, and the pen strokes bounce every 1.5cm. Not recommendable for notetaking and drawing. If you are specifically looking for a ThinkPad Tablet then this is the one to go. Otherwise, other tablets have better performance and value, and keep up with the promises they made.
