Great Cell Phone

This has been a great cell phone and love the pay as you go prepaid concept. TracFone LG 221C has basic features and reception and performance is excellent in my area here in Montana. A great value ...no frills...gets the job done! Superb!

Good reception where I had no reception previously

Had a different older tracfone before this. Went to Walmart in TN and was asked if my old phone had a sim card When I said yes, the clerk said that that was the problem because it was using AT&T towers, and coverage in my area was poor. All the Tracfones that they sold did not have a sim card and was told that they used Verizon towers. I purchased this phone and transfered my number. Now I get great reception all over. Traveled west to CA, and reception was great even in mountain areas. Very happy with it.

No Problems for Over 1 Year Now

My wife and I have been using the LG221 flip phones, from Tracfone, for over a year now. We have not really had any problems, but we also do not use them like crazy, like some people use cell phones. We like the phone, which is small to carry around comfortably. We like the price, better than any other prepaid phone that we know of. We buy the 1-year 400 minute card, which doubles to 800 minutes. Plus the minutes roll-over from the previous year! With our 2nd pre-paid card, we have now over 1,000 minutes on each phone. Also, we purchased this at Wal-Mart for about $15, with wall and car chargers and belt clip. For text messages, we noted that our e-mail address for our phones is AT&T. And since this is a GSM phone, I suspect that this runs on AT&T's network. Also, to note: Ok camera on phone. Voice mail seems to work fine. We also ported over our old Verizon cell phone numbers to them. Worked great! Overall, great deal! I recommend this phone and plan.

I can be pretty much anywhere, even in my house and I can make a call.

GREAT for rural areas.

Of all my flip phones, this has the best voice quality and battery live. In our rural area, smart phones don't work. 2 G is iffy; 3G rarely works but this phone always comes through. Now I am searching for a replacement battery (after five years) because 1 or 2G phones are very very hard to find, and the voice quality is GREAT

If you want simple You got simple

It is so simple that I could use it without spending hours to figure it out. -Would recommend it for anyone who needs something simple to make calls on, and send a text or two on occasion, especially if you only need to text a picture or a few words (does not do emojeez), and/or anyone who only gets atnt where they live. -Would NOT recommend it for anyone who sends a-lot of text messages/emails from their phone or needs fancy fangled features like Instagram Snapchat and Facebook, and or anyone doesn't get atnt where they live.

Good basic prepaid phone

I purchased this Tracfone for my 11 yr old son. He's been using it for 5 months. It's a good basic phone. No bells and whistles. The phone reception on it is excellent. This Tracfone got a signal at a State Park where we vacationed and my fancy T-Mobile phone couldn't even get a signal. My son said it's hard to text on this phone though. So that is my only complaint. Other than that, this is a good basic phone for anyone.

I now get a signal where I didn't before.

My old Tracfone phone was not getting reception in most places I visit. Even though the site said this one wouldn't work in my area, the Tracfone customer service person said I needed a phone which ended in 'C', which would put me on the Verizon system. I visited my local store and the very helpful person in electronics said this was the phone I needed. She told me many people in our area have this same problem, and she always directs them to this phone. She even went so far as to call Tracfone and have my minutes and phone number transferred over to the new phone! So I was all set to go before I even left the store. And was she right! Very good reception everywhere I go, and now I can get a signal were I couldn't before. The only reason I gave this phone 4 stars instead of 5 was due to this phone doesn't have a camera. Not a big deal to me, but it might be to someone else. The instruction booklet was not helpful at setting up the voice mail, and when I tried it as it listed it didn't work. I then called Tracfone customer service, and they were able to get it working. So I'm very happy with this purchase.

I purchased a custom ringtone by Eminem three months ago, I've called twice. First time I waited 25 minutes before speaking with a representative, I think she was in Asia. She said she'd send me a code, so I could unlock the internet so I could use my ringtone. She never sent it. Second time I called, Samantha the representative got the phone to unlock and said that I would be able to use my custom ringtone. NOPE! That's well over an hour's worth of my time wasted on a phone to claim to have these things already in use. Now I've discovered I can't send pictures, and as far as music, it doesn't state how to get it in the instruction booklet. When I get voice mails and try to check it, I'm asked for a secret code. I told Samantha, second representative about this she asked if I've read my book. I said I'll check. I'd had, it doesn't say anything about how to select a password to check voice mail. Going to take it back. What a headache.

Poor reception in my area, many wrong numbers

This is my first cellphone and it was a big disappointment. Reception in my rural area is bad and I always have to go outside to make or receive calls. This isn't a big issue this summer but won't be much fun when the temperatures drop near freezing. This phone gets many wrong numbers, which are NOT my number for some reason. Also, Tracfone gave me a phone number that seems to have been owned by somebody who didn't pay their bills. I've received numerous calls for this person including a check advance company that wanted to get in touch with them. Anyway, if I had it to do again I'd buy a better phone from a different carrier even if the phone and service was more expensive. I'm seriously considering buying a flip-phone with Verizon service from Walmart as soon as my minutes expire on this one.
