I was chosen to demo this cooler, probably because my review off the 55 quart was a little harsh. I am very happy to see that they addressed the issues. A new balloon seal that seals air tight ! I filled the cooler all the way with water, turned on it's edge and opened the drain. I was amazed didn't leak a drop of water I left it overnight to check no sign of leakage. I couldn't test ice retention in winter so I filled it with hot water instead 110 degrees to be exact, after 8 days of sitting outside in teen digits the water temp only dropped to 101 . I don't care what cooler it is that's pretty impressive. I would also like to add this cooler actually fits a full size lock ! Can't wait to take this to Glacier for our 12 day trip in July !
I am a true cost-conscious consumer. Ive never paid over $40 for a cooler ever. But we needed a cooler as an alternative to our aging RV fridge. The coolers that I had bought in the past were for afternoon outings, parties, etc. They only needed to keep things cold for 24hrs or last. But we are full time RV'rs camping in some pretty remote places. Going to get ice every 2 days is not convenient (neither is having our food spoil). So after much research into coolers, I learned about rotomolded coolers. But most rotomolded coolers that are sized 70qt or larger are well over $400. Ahh..... no. Then I found out about the Lifetime brand of rotomolded coolers. At $150 it seemed like a real bargain. So we took the plunge and picked one up. VERDICT?????? The picture that I attached is the ice at day 5. It has no problem retaining ice for 9 days as advertised. It couldn't be better ..... except for one thing ...... THOSE HANDLES. I hate them. Because they are nylon rope, the cooler swings when carrying it fully loaded. If it only had a hard handle in addition to the ropped handle it would be great (the rope is great for dragging though). Luckily, we don't have to move it much. But even though I don't like the handles, it's still 5 stars. You can spend more if you want. But why?
I have a 55 qrt lifetime cooler. Needed a bigger one. We used it the first time and put a 20 lb bag if ice Thursday morning at 5:15 am to Keep our food cold until or RV fridge is ready. Saturday morning we used the 20 lb bag of ice for adult beverages and other liquids, it was frozen solid! Excellent cooler, we stay off the grid with our travel trailer and these Lifetime coolers are a absolute necessity. I have the 115 grt cooler in my shopping cart, hopefully it's under my Christmas tree. Excellent cooler at an excellent price.
This is the second Lifetime 77 that I got from Walmart (5 star ice chest.) I've bought many coolers and I've torn many of them up. Quite a few were treasured and never left the house while a few of them ended up hoping to get back home in one piece. A year ago I purchased an overweight, very well insulated 77Q Lifetime Cooler that was immediately impressive because it retained ice just as well as the Yeti it was replacing and I thought the Lifetime latch system was superior. That ice chest and I presented cold beverages all over 3 Texas counties and the Lifetime picked up accolades at every stop. One fateful day I backed over my Lifetime 77Q with my full size truck - Chevy Z71 - the truck pushed it for awhile, it eventually collapsed in on itself - - - and my rear axle got hung up and my drive tire was up off the ground - just spinning. It took some 4 wheel drive to get going again btw. Sad for me but most impressive for that Lifetime brand ice chest from Walmart. For Sure this is one very durable product. It really will retain ice for 3.5 days in brutal Texas heat, the drain plugs are replaceable, the handles can be replaced, the latch components can be swapped out for different color combos and or replaced. Uh hm. Read the booklet that is attached to your new Lifetime Cooler. It will tell you how to successfully love your new Lifetime cooler for a longtime. The only possible complaint I might have is that this 77 quart ice chest is heavy even when it's empty. The heavy duty handle on each side clears up the weight problem very efficiently ( you'll need a friend to haul it around . Also / you guys and gals know that your new cooler will be coolest if you rinse it out ever so often but , seriously, dont ever fill it up with water and let it stay that way, don't let the water sit in it for any length of time at all! It will ruin your product, The sides will bulge out and the lid won't close - ever again. Ice Cooler kapoot. Not mine though, Mine is a rock star. My Lifetime cooler will last a lifetime if I want it to.
This cooler is super solid and sturdy. I love the video I saw online of it holding up against a grizzly bear. The larger size is critical for longer trips or bigger groups of people, however it does make it more challenging to carry it through doorways and hallways since it can't be pulled on wheels. We haven't been able to take it on a campout yet, so to test the ice capacity I put a single frozen gallon of water in the cooler, kept it in my 72 degree house, and opened it 3 to 5 times a day to check on the ice. It kept ice for nearly 72 hours. At 72 hours the water was still cold but the ice was gone. Obviously that's not normal use for a cooler, but it does tell me that when properly packed, this cooler is going to keep ice for much longer than a standard cooler. The features are all good quality. The handles are rope with a plastic handle piece that is comfortable for small and large hands. The rope reaches above the lid of the cooler so that your knuckles don't bang (see video). The opening and locking mechanisms seem high quality and durable. The seal is also much thicker and tougher than our other coolers from other brands. The capacity is great. It will hold 8 gallons of milk side-by-side across the bottom (see picture) - so that tells you how big the base of the interior is. Plus there is quite a bit of clearance above that - at least 4 inches. The sticky silicone-ish pads on the bottom of the cooler have pros and cons. Pros: this cooler should stay put in the back of a truck pretty well. The pads have good grip, especially with weight in the coolder. Cons: It won't slide across your kitchen floor as you are loading it. You literally have to pick it up, but I think that's worth it.
I put 4 gallons of clean tap water into the cooler, closed the lid %26 tipped it over. No water leaked out. When I opened the bottom drain, with the lid still closed, water started to come out %26 then it gurgled out. It pulled a vacuum inside the cooler. That's a tight seal! Can't say that about Yeti coolers. Keeping air out goes a long way towards keeping the ice from melting.
Awesome cooler! I researched thoroughly before deciding on this Lifetime cooler. I donât mind the cost of good cooler IF it does the job. We have borrowed my BIL Yeti cooler the past two camping trips and even with the ridiculous pricetag we were still adding ice daily. This year we used this Lifetime cooler for our food and the Yeti for our drinks. Day 1 we had to drain water and add ice to the Yeti- we did not have to add ice to the Lifetime. Day 2, again we had to drain water and add ice to the Yeti. We did add the leftover ice to the Lifetime but it was still going strong. Day 3, no ice in the Yeti but the Lifetime was still full! The picture is after we got home and emptied the cooler. I am so impressed with this cooler!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this cooler about 4 times. Each time ice was still in the cooler after a Florida summer day (92 degrees and 85 percent humidity). One latch broke which renders the cooler almost useless. Stated the warranty process to replace and Lifetime wanted a receipt which I couldn't produce because this was a quick Walmart purchase before a Birthday party, and it was promptly lost. However, to my surprise Lifetime accepted the pictures and sent me new replacement latches. So far Very good. I would recommend this cooler based on cost performance. Yes, I paid for the cooler. No, it wasn't a gift.
Just bought last week for an “out west” trip with a buddy. We used it as our ice keeper and pre-chilled as directed. But man was I bummed when we arrived at our destination, because to my surprise one of the hinge rods had fallen out. We had four of these type coolers (3 different brands) strapped to a trailer, so no way to find the hinge pin as it is probably stuck in someone's tire on I-80. On the plus side, it held ice longer than the rest, even missing the hinge rod. Placed ice in on Friday and still had half the ice on the following Wednesday. Still bummed about the hinge, hopefully they will rectify this for me. Photos taken after I returned home yesterday. Would have given 5 star if not for the hinge.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great cooler for the first six months or so. The end beyond the latches warp and no longer provide a seal after that. It is still ok for the cooler months. It just doesn't stay cold for a full day in the heat.
