We bought two of these kayaks, one for myself and one for my husband. They are lightweight and well built. Great buy and great fun!!
We just purchased a pair of these. They are definitely not for speed but are great for leisure paddling on the water. They are super stable and not tippy feeling at all. You may want to invest in some type of padding for the seat if you will be sitting for a long while. The drain holes will also leave you with a wet butt, so I would suggest finding a way to plug them if you are paddling on smooth water. All in all they are great little boats.
I love love love the GS Lollipop. I purchased her 2 years ago and have had so much fun. Some day I will learn how to sail.
My family loves these kayaks! Easy to use, the sail is fun, easy to carry. You just can't beat them for the price. We play on them, fish from them , race them (pretty slowly, but a race nonetheless).
I just received my 2 kayaks today and they came in thin plastic, not bubble wrap, which would have been much better, to protect them, but they were still OK. The kayaks fit perfectly in the garage standing up. I have not had the chance to take them out yet.
what a blast. I am back on the water for very little money. Kayak is safe. I tried to flip it. Tracking is not as good as a longer model. however it is light weight, I can put it in and out of the water myself. I am female and 70 years old. Delivery was on time. Kayak was as expected. Paddle works well. Sail is fun. Don't wait. enjoy life now.
As a brand-new kayaker, I was not sure what to get. I just bought similar Lifetime kayaks for my three children, and since I needed something to get in the water with them, I bought this one. It has been great! No, it is not built for speed, but I can't go too far with my kids in the water anyway. I use it to go through our river off of the Intercoastal Waterway. It is a great size- I can carry it and maneuver it by myself. I have not used the sail yet, and not sure that I will. Seems pointless to me. There is ample room for storage (I use a rope and extra life jacket for any emergencies) and plenty of leg room. I am pleased with the purchase. Once my kids are ready to upgrade, I will be too.
Overall the Kayak is inexpensive and it is built that way. I ordered 2 of these kayaks, both came in defective from Walmart.com. After contacting the manufacturer and waiting a few days for a response, their suggestion was that I could either return the Kayak or they could send me the parts to fix it. I returned the first one and since I had a camping trip planned with my son I decided to fix the second one, which required that I drill out the rivets in the rigging cleat and re-install it with new rivets in the proper position. Defects aside this kayak is just OK. It would be good to use on a lake or pond but no real serious paddling with this one. It has a flat bottom (versus a V shaped hull) which makes the boat hard to steer and the sail is just about useless and the rigging gets in the way of paddling. My 13 year old son who has been kayaking with me for almost 5 years used this boat on a recent trip and was thoroughly frustrated with it. Overall, average cheap kayak for use in a lake or slow moving rivers. I would go with the version without the sail and not bother with it. If I hadn't "fixed" the kayak for my trip it would be going back to Walmart for a refund.
I paddle on a local river almost weekly and have done many week long river trips. I picked this up used super cheap to have as an extra kayak for guests to paddle with. Last week I switched kayaks with a friend and paddled the daylite about a mile. I know its cheap, but i wasn't expecting it to be horrible. It is basically a flat barge on the bottom (with a built in handle that sits at water level and creates even more resistance) The paddling position is all wrong, it doesn't track at all and takes lots of effort to just keep it moving in a straight line . I now feel bad making guests paddle this barge and am looking for another kayak. That said, another friend who has never paddled before recently did a stretch of river with me and loved it. So, if you don't have anything to compare it to, you might like it, but do yourself a favor and get a boat that is actually shaped like a boat on the bottom.
