My great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and myself all used/use cast iron cookware. I've been accustomed to this product and have never found anything to take it's place for certain types of cooking. I bought this particular piece to cook cornbread sticks because my husband prefers the sticks over the pan cornbread. Of course, we all know Lodge makes the best cast iron products. After all, it is one of the only "Made in America" companies still producing and selling in this country.

I seasoned this pan twice before using it, and nothing sticks. I preheated the pan in the oven and sprayed it with non-stick spray. After baking for about ten minutes, cornbread just fell out of the pan. With some care, the pan works well.

Mama had one of these when I was growing up. The cornbread was excellent with crunchy crust all around. I bought two for my daughter-in-law as a Christmas gift and bought two for my wife. We use these almost every day. And it's Made in the USA !!!

Not an ole time wagner like grandma used to cook with. And we are not really happy with the small size of the corn sticks. We ordered it online, if we had seen it in person, we would not have purchased it because of the shallow baking area. It would make great sizes for kids, but adults here are not really impressed with the size of the sticks. We are sure the grand kids will enjoy them, but, for grandma and grandpa we are back to making corn bread cakes rather than sticks. We purchased it on sale and with free shipping.

Great for a traditional cook.

Despite thoroughly oiling the pan, I've been having trouble getting the corn sticks out intact. The information that came with the pan said the problem would improve, and it has. After 6 batches of corn sticks, it still isn't perfect. It's a lot of work to clean up between batches. This is for someone like me who almost makes a hobby of cooking and likes to honor traditions on occasion. Wonderful that it's made in the US and only about a hundred miles from me.

My mom had me order these for my sister as an Easter present. My dad used to make cornbread in these same type of pans and we all loved them. My mom couldn't find the old ones so had me order new ones. She is going to love them.

NO... I do not work for Lodge (the maker) or Walmart. These are the real deal from Lodge cast iron. I paid in advance and picked them up free at the store. They are not usually sold in the store. The weight of four pounds is deceiving in the text. I got two, which were a boxed handful for the spritely saleslady of a senior age. They are breakable with a hammer or a high drop onto a concrete floor, so do not treat them as if they were steel. Wash them and grease and heat them before using them as the instructions indicate and they will last forever. Super price.... better than any other store. Great for cornbread sticks or cookies.

Corn "stick" is right!

Yes, these corn sticks do indeed stick! In my first use, I used the basic Jiffy corn bread mix and the sticks all stuck to the pan. I've since been told that spraying with regular "Pam" isn't enough.... you should use the variety with flour for better release. I'd say the corn pattern etched into the pan is too intricate for a coarse cornmeal batter to bake intact, or be released. Maybe I'll have better luck next time but I'm in no hurry to try as these are a true chore to clean.

I have used cast iron all my life, and never have I been dissappointed until now. First of all this is much smaller than it appears. One commenter stated she makes corn dogs and explained how she does it using this pan, I have to say not possible.I tried twice cutting the hot dog in smaller pieces and they fit that way, but the problem is the cornbread will not come out of the pan. I used the box mix, and I made my own mix, niether would come out of the pan. All cast iron cookwear coming from Lodge is already pre seasoned, and has always worked great, except this pan. So the best I can do is find another way to use it. Sorry I really hate to give a bad review, but I feel I must be honest.
