I expected quality from Lodge and that's what I got. Perfect little grill that should last a lifetime or two. Great for up to four people. Plus I got it at a Walmart price that was less than half of what other stores wanted and it was shipped to my door in three days.
This is an exact replacement for the grill we raised our kids with for 15 years. When our youngest got married, we gave it to them, and now 20 years later we wanted to go back to the basics and found that Lodge was still making this perfect grill. The secret to its success is the ability to control the heat, the speed to have hot coals, and durability of the product itself. We've washed in the ocean, rivers, lakes, and everywhere else. Never warps and continues to do its job, no matter the use or abuse. An American legend.
This grill is what you would expect to come out of the Lodge factory. It's extremely heavy not easily handled by an elderly person maybe, but very well made. We expect it to last a lifetime to tell the truth. It's small enough to take to the park and clean easily. We love it's size and it keeps us from firing up our huge gas grill, for just a couple of steaks or a few hamburgers, and you get the great charcoal taste on the food. We couldn't be happier with it.
The best price I could find was at Walmart, thank you. This is a solid piece. The grill assemblies in minutes. The grate is adjustable and so are the charcoal door and air box door. Be careful picking this grill up by hand, the front with the charcoal door and air box door is a little heavier and the grill tips in that direction. After the tip, the door could fall off since they are unattached but held in lace by their weight. This little grill is a work of art.
I bought this so I could grill indoors. Inside my masonry fireplace It is as well made as I could expect from Lodge and worked perfectly
I have a Weber charcoal grill, but sometimes I just want to grill a steak or piece of chicken for myself and wife. This is perfect. We have had it a week and I've used it 3 times. Love it.
Like all cast iron products, this grill is perfect. I wish it came with a lid, but it is hibachi style. I wrap everything in foil to smoke my food. I also use as a small fire pit for my kids to roast marshmallows. Very low maintenance. Love it.
I have a larger grill, but most of the time, I can get away with using something smaller and this fits the bill. The grate is cast iron which seems to heat up more evenly and produce more uniform grilling results. Lodge did update the grill with handles, so I chose not to install the loop handle that came with it. Be sure to coat some oil on the grate before grilling. I prefer Avocado oil because of it's high smoke point. I highly recommend this grill.
Absolutely useful, practical and durable.
The grill was not in the original box and was missing 3 of 8 of the parts-unusable after paying $93. Took it to a Walmart and got a cash refund then went to a shelf in the store where it was on Clearance! Bought this one for half the price-that made up for the inconvenience. The grill is awesome-great heavy duty materials and cooks an awesome steak!
