Was a gift for mt Mom for Christmas which I gave to her early. She love, love, loves it. I wanted to let her use it foe her pre Christmas cooking. I love it too, and think I may have to break down and get me one as I only have cast iron dutch, and my daughter one. They are beautiful, easy clean, cook as well as regular cast iron. Lovely 😍
When I was looking for a cast iron Dutch oven I had to go with lodge because 1. It's beautiful 2. Is American made 3. I could order on line Easy! I love it and it was a good choice
This dutch oven was delivered fast and its a beautiful pan but it did come a little more chrome than expected. In the pictures it looks purely black but it is in fact black chrome. Love it either way.
meant to buy a dutch oven for the longest and can't wait to use it very often now with the weather getting perfect for stews, roasts and such
This is my first enameled Dutch oven. I read all the reviews and chose the Lodge based on quality for the price. At less than one third the cost of more expensive brands, I took a chance. So far I have made bread, stews, and braised meat. The Dutch oven works beautifully and cleans up so easily. I have a glass topped stove and found that I have no issues with scratching. I already own iron skillets and am accustomed to moving them carefully across the glass for years without scratching. I definitely recommend this 6 quart model!
Do not buy those expensive brands unless you want an heirloom to pass down to your grandchildren. This one will do!
My friend recommended this over the expensive brand (starts with a LeC). She owns both and says the Lodge is the one! Check out this photo of this really great bread I made using it.
First ignore any negative reviews....I usually don't write reviews, but this oven is all I thought it be ...it's sturdy and just the right size, ..it arrived quickly and beautifully packed...no chips or cracks...price was affordable...in 5 days I have used it alot, from soup, to bread, ribs and a roast dinner, cleans easily....I love it...looks pretty in my kitchen....thanks Lodge and thanks Walmart, ordering online was very easy and quick... Would order again....Darlene
In a side by side comparison the The Lodge's capacity is 6 qt vs Le Creuset 6-3/4 qt. Lodges porcelain finish is not as smooth, it has more orange peel compared to Le Creuset both inside and out. Both have fairly large handles and I actually preferred the handles on the Lodge compared to the Le Creuset a little more room for larger hands. Le Creuset had straighter sides which added a little more cooking surface on the bottom of the pot compared to the Lodge which had a more curved side reducing the overall cooking surface slightly so you may have to sear more batches. The Lodge Dutch oven had a more domed lid compared to the Le Creuset which had a flatter lid. The Le Creuset gives you a little edge in overall height if your oven is tight on space. As you can tell from my comparison it was more nit picking then anything else when comparing the two. While the Lodge is not a Le Creuset in it's fit and finish it is also 5 times less expensive and performs just as well in my opinion. You can't go wrong with the Lodge porcelain enamel dutch oven.
Had it less than a week and the enamel chipped. So disappointed because I really liked it. All Walmart could do was offer a refund of $3.50 to keep a less than week old damaged $70 pot.
