Newt is ambushed and left for dead by a prisoner he is escorting to the gallows. Meanwhile, Captain Woodrow Call rides into Curtis Wells looking for his son. Call has to confront the possibility that Newt is no longer alive when the Hell Bitch gallops into town, riderless. Later, a body found by trappers and presumed to be Newt is unrecognizable. The Captain refuses to accept that Newt is dead. He rides out in search of his son.
