Ma And Pa Kettle At The Fair (Full Frame)

In their newest adventure, the Kettles? eldest daughter Rosie (Lori Nelson) wants to go to college, and Ma and Pa Kettle (Marjorie Main, Percy Kilbride) are at their wits? end trying to raise the money. With Pa shunning even the suggestion of work, they turn their attention to the County Fair where Ma is sure she can win the jam and bread-making contests, while Pa sets his sights on the trotting race. Due to a maddening clerical error, Ma?s winning jam is disqualified, and her bread-making winnings are traded by Pa for a decrepit old plow horse. With Rosie?s future hanging in the balance, Pa takes the reins and sends his nag ? which will only run when frightened by a rattlesnake ? after the big money. There are plenty of surprises along the way, but things have a ridiculous, though supremely satisfying way, of always working out for the Kettles. Main and Kilbride continue to delight as cantankerous-but-good-natured Ma and lazy-but-enterprising Pa ? characters who have come a long way since they were first introduced in "The Egg and I.".
