Nice compact and light connects very quickly and is very easy to use the only drawback is the screen size is a little small and makes me wish I had gone up to the next higher model.
I wanted this Magellan GPS for Father's Day. When my wife went to Wal Mart, they didn't carry this model and said it had to be ordered online. The clerk suggested what he called "the Garmin version" of the exact same Magellan GPS and they had one in stock. She bought it, but it wasn't want I wanted and not the same at all. We returned the Garmin, and she ordered the Magellan that I originally wanted. I'm happy with it, and I would recommend it. The price is a little high for the value received, but this model has the features that I wanted, so I am satisfied.
From what have used works well, just no memory upgrade available via a sd card
I really wanted to like this GPS but Its cramped button configuration makes it difficult to operate efficiently and the directional toggle is jerky and imprecise. The screen is also small and I found it's performance to be slower than some of the older units I have owned in the past. A check of the web will show other who have complain about the toggle and about how small the screen is but not until I got mine home and try to use did I see what other was saying, I even had to put on my reading glasses to see what I was looking at. I will say the GPS seems to be well built and light and many will find it to suit there needs but for me I will be taking mine back and look for something else.
I bought for its ability to load topo maps but it is hard to read and only loads one map region. I doubt you could see contours except under low light conditions with the back light. Otherwise seems rugged enough and the operation is pretty straight forward. I will gift this as I bought a different one from another manufacturer that loads an SD card and comes with topo maps, and while significantly more expensive than the 310, gives me everything in one shot.
not user friendly garmin has lot less key strokes to get where you are going
would not power up, called magellens customer service and got no help, thanks for nothing !!!!!
