This is the first hand held gps unit I've owned and for the most part I'm pleased. I was very disappointed with the maps, the description states that you will have access to the national geographic topo maps. I was able to save views of the sample map, but they seem to be incompatible with my unit. Other maps through topo need to be purchased, so I am only currently able to use a map void of even river views. However, the color display is great, the features are fantastic, the unit is small yet not small enough to easily lose, and I would definitely recommend the product.
Bought this unit at the local Walmart yesterday for some thing to help guide o back trails on the 4 wheeler and find my way back. Got it home and read the quick start guide. Got it up and running. Under a 3 mile view there wasnt any roads listed or shown on the unit screen when I am on a major hiway in the country. Also,it showed my location about 8 miles from where I actually was sitting on the porch of my house . It also showed me traveling in a northwest direction of 3 miles an hour while sitting in a lawn chair on the porch. Reading more I thought maybe something had to be updated using the software .After 6 hours trying to get a download of 50 mb and several attempts from the Magellan site . I gave up as a lost cause and returned the unit this morning ,. I have a old Garmin of about 12 or 15 years old that is more accurate and stable than a new Magellan I might add the store had the 400 model in stock and thought seriously of purchasing that one with two in stock niether had the software cd or owners manuals in the package explaining how to use it . The cd with the 200 did include a owners manual with very little information on how to use it or how to set it up. The time display on the 200 read 9:01 A.m at 5:30 in the evening and no instructions on how to set the time or preferences. Would I recomend a Magellan ? NEVER!!!!! Get a Garmin even the old ones are better
