WE replaced our older Magellan GPS that was stolen. Bought the 7" screen size and was not disappointed. The change in screen optics since our much older model is astounding. Lifetime maps will make it another long-term unit. We tried Garmin but the lack of the "ding" - when you'd better be doing something route-wise - brought us back into the Magellan fold. "Turn right in 500 feet" means nothing to me when I'm negotiating downtown traffic in an unfamiliar city.

I have never used a GPS before so I was worried it would be difficult but with this GPS it was super simple. I love the screen is 7" its nice and large and easy to read. It has an easy to use touch screen menu. It speaks nice and clearly and shows major landmarks. It also has several different views that you can see. It also comes with free lifetime map updates. I also like that it has a one touch favorites menu. Also has speed limit warnings, traffic camera alerts, best parking and much more. Super easy to use and comes with everything you need. I received this product as part of a sample and review for TryIt sampling in exchange for my honest review. This product has a nice large 7 inch screen, the size of a tablet. I am in my 50's and my eyesite is not the best and this size is perfect! Easy to read and understand instructions four mounting and settin gup device. I love that it was pre-loaded with maps and has free- automatic updates, so your system and the directions you receive are always up-to-date! The voice instructions were easy to understand and pleasant. We really liked that when we approached a turn it shows split-screen graphics and chimes, letting us know we have to make a move. I also love it gives you traffic alerts, so you know what is ahead of you and suggests alternate routes to take. Where I live there is alot of traffic, so very helpful. It has a one-touch favorites and easy to use keyboard to enter informaiton and destinations. I like that it offered street-views which were so helpful for a visual of your destination. My husband and I are so happy with this system, for someone like me who is not very-technical savy, this is just awesome! So easy to use! We had great instructions given with no issues! The screen is really large. Good for people who need this size screen. It's a little to big for me but other than that everything is great.
I like how big it is and being able to see! Haven't gone on a road trip yet. I don't like the support on the back so much, I like to do dash mounts too, but doesn't tip down enough. Window is the better way, I already ordered a clam shell mount for it. But I used to the Magellan from before so I'll get used to it.
The option to use landmarks to direct you is a cool idea. The choices in subjects of locations is poor to pitiful. No amusement parks, zoos, or museums are in points of interest. My old TomTom did. It does at least speak road names. I think I will return mine for a Garmin. I think I will have better luck with that. The touch screen is tricky to use. Only arrows are available as indicators, no cars. Other than that,it is okay.
Item works well on open highway: but in town it misdirects you into dangerous areas. It also is no good on switchbacks. Customer support is virtually non-existent. There is no phone support, live chat does not work, and two request by email have netted a text book reply with no results. Anything GPS with the name Magellan should be avoided like the black death. Tom-Tom and Garmin fair much better. Wish I had done my homework. An expensive lesson. My order for an A/C adapter is still in process almost a month later.
