My son played with a similar toy in a waiting room this past year. He was intrigued and didn't want to leave the doctor's office! I bought this for him for Christmas and it's one of his favorite toys. The nice thing is that I don't see him getting sick of it like his tractors and trucks. It comes with a booklet of ideas of shapes/figures to make. He is just learning his shapes so it's also very educational.
My son got this from Santa and it was a huge hit. Very easy to use. He's made tons of stuff and the magnets hold together better than I thought they would. Creative toy.
They ignored all other birthday presents and played with them for hours.
My 6 year old grandson loves it.
Kids have some now and play with it a lot
We received our first Magformers as a gift and at first when we got them - they didn't seem like they would be all that cool - but even years later they get played with by my now almost 11 year old and my almost 4 year old both. Each set we continue to receive is loved and added to our collection. Every set will work with every other to expand it's capabilities. I think the appeal for my younger child is the ease that they can be put together into a meaningful shape. Each part pretty much is going to go into another part in some way. And by watching his older brother he can now master building even more complex shapes and forms and vehicles (we have sets that contain wheel parts). The appeal for my older child is just the creativity and ease of play. You don't have to spend hours of planning... you can just pick this up and make something that works within minutes. Spend a few more minutes and you can makes something more intricate even. So no matter what set you get they all work the same way and will work with each other. But each set will have a different theme to it, there's a amusement park type set there's this set, a light up set, things like that. Do you research and go from there!
My 4 yr old twin boys have loads of fun and spend a lot time building and exploring while playing with these magformers. Yes I would recommend you spending the money. I even enjoy playing with them as well !!
This is a wonderful product--my grandchildren and great-grandson love it, and the price & service at Walmart is excellent.
We've had a number of sets of the popular magnatiles. I was suspicious about this set because I wasn't sure if it'd keep the kids attention like the magnatiles did. They are creating some really amazing things with this set! We need more :)
These are okay, but I think I like the other types of magnetic tiles better. When the kids build stuff with these, they can't hardly carry them across the room to show one of us without the thing they build/made falling apart. They're also a little more expensive than the other tiles I bought. I do like having both types of magnetic tiles for the grand kids to play with, but the Cra-Z-Art Magrific tiles were better in my opinion.
