I gave these Mainstays High Pile Blanket to my son and daughter in law and they love them. so comfortable and warm, last year I bought them for my husband and I.
I bought this blanket because I had bought the same blankets in the past and was highly impressed by them. They are the softest blankets I've ever used. They are also very lightweight, so if you have issues with blankets that are too heavy on your feet, for example, I think you would really like this blanket. Amazingly, in spite of their light weight, these blankets still keep me very warm. One more thing: I was afraid that after washing and drying, the blanket would pill up and not be so soft anymore. I was wrong. The blanket came out of the dryer just like new.
The Mainstays High Pile blanket is one of the softest blankets I have ever had. No...make that the softest material in my whole house. And it is incredibly light in weight also. If it ever gets dirty...am afraid to wash it because it might lose its downy softness?
The blanket is great. My only concern was the clear bag it was packaged in. It was dusty, dirty, and open on one end. Not sure why it wasn't in a sealed bag to keep it clean.
IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOO SOFT,I LOVE IT..MY CHILDREN NOW WANT ONE..I WASHED IT BEFORE I USED IT & ONLY A LITTLE FUSS CAME OFF..NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT..I HAVE THE BROWN ONE ON MY BED & ONE ON MY SPACE BED IN BLUE,,THEY'RE GREAT,NOT THICK,SO I USE WITH MY QUILT,ITS COLD HERE IN PA..
I was a little leary to order this blanket given the comments about all the fluff it leaves behind. I took the advice of those who seemed to find a way to resolve this and its worked perfectly. I unpacked the blanket outside and with the help of a friend we shook the daylights out of it. Sure enough the air was filed with bits of loose fluff. Once no more was coming off when we shook it I took it to the laundrymat and washed it in a double load washer. It had a bit of a dye odor to it so I added a capful of apple cider vingear to the rinse water which eliminated the odor. I was a little concerned since I saw some more wet fluff on the blanket when I took it from the washer but we shook it out once again.. quite a bit more came off. Then tossed it into the dryer. My blanket doesn't leave behind the slightest bit of fluff now. Its so INCREDIBLY soft, cuddly and warm. The color (mine is the dark burgundy) is unbelievably rich and deep. Enough so I'm ordering these as Christmas presents for everyone I know. I'll do the de-fluff process with each before wrapping and giving at the holidays. The flyaway fluff is only an issue if you don't go through the steps to get rid of it initially. But trust me, this blanket is worth every bit of the added effort. I've washed mine one more time since after a spill on it and am happy to say there was no extra fluff bits the second time around. My lint trap at home had only a thin layer of lint from drying it.
I love this blanket! I bought the king size and it is huge... It is soft and warm. Definitely my favorite but I will have to go back and buy a couple more. The king size is to big to drag around in the living room so it will stay across the foot of my bed. If you want soft and warm, this is perfect. I like the high pile and the color is great too. I bought the olive to match my bedroom.
I got this blanket for my husband as a father's day gift. He absolutely loves it!!! He calls it his grizzly bear blanket. It's super soft and comfy. Perfect weight and not bulky while providing just the right warmth. After seeing how comfy this blanket is... my daughter said, "so when are you going to get me my blanket?"
I too had the issue with the blanket shedding "pills" as they were described. I washed the blanket once and it has helped tremendously. I don't sleep in my own bed much nor spend a lot of time at my house so I haven't had time to change the sheets that had the pills all over from using the blanket prior to washing, so what I am experiencing may just be the remainders floating around and not new shedding, but I don't know for sure. I do know I have had previous blankets shed MUCH worse and after many washes, so I'm pretty satisfied that this one doesn't fill up my beard with the fuzzies. The intent for this particular blanket has overly satisfied me. I sleep very warm and don't even need a blanket for heat retention even in the Michigan winters, I do however like the feel of a heavy blanket. It was important to me to find a blanket with some weight to it but that won't hold a lot of heat and this one definitely fills the bill for that purpose. The only slight issue I have with it is it seems to be a little small for a King size bed; don't get me wrong, it covers the top surface, but not much more, and when I am under the covers, it lifts the blanket up and then hardly touches the edges of the bed, so I wish it were a bit bigger so it could hang over the edge while someone is in the bed.
I could end my contract with Austin energy with the amount of static electricity this blanket gave off. The material is also cheap and horrible and I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.
