Christopher Nolan's Insomnia comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director, a second commentary track featuring many people who worked on the film, four featurettes covering various aspects of the production, and an additional scene. Although this is a fine disc for what it is, the film is available with the same extras and a widescreen transfer. That version is superior to this one.
