I recently purchased this smoker and after seasoning it, I just used it for the first time. What a great smoker. It was very consistent at holding the temp the entire time. It was almost set it and forget it, except to add some more wood chunks (but that is expected). My ribs and drumsticks were moist and delicious.
I was browsing the web shopping for a smoker and the Masterbuilt name came up time and time again. Once I decided propane gas was the option best suited for my current location, I stayed shopping the website. I originally wasnt going to go this large but once I saw the 340G was marked down to an even better price, it was an auto buy. The purchase was quick and easy and the follow up service from Masterbuilt was great. I've already smoked twice for 25+ people and from the pictures, I'm well on my way to an enjoyable learning experience !
I just got this a couple weeks ago. Never smoked before. Simple set it and forget it. Temperature control is awesome. Prime rib first smoke and baby backs second. Recommended to all of my friends looking for a propane smoker.
I bought this for my husband for his birthday, and he loves it. He uses it several times a week, and I don't know if he will ever cook meat in another other way again. Highly recommend smoking some ribeyes. The best I've ever had.
I've used my smoker twice and both times I've been very happy with the results. The temp holds pretty true to what its set at and the propane gauge is a very handy item. The unit is well insulated / well made and also the glass is a nice touch since I put an oven thermometer right in the window and can see it from the house. There are two concerns that I have but time will tell if they're an issue or not. Being a larger smoker it does seem to go through propane quicker than I was expecting. After three uses (one being the seasoning process for 1.5 hrs and the other two sessions were smoking ribs for 3.5 hrs each) I'm getting close to the yellow indicator on the propane gauge. Its not a deal breaker but does add to the expense. The next is the smoke box, its a bit small and I do seem to have to put chips in more than I was expecting. Have been working on coming up with a solution to possibly use a cast iron skillet or something. Its a bit of a shame since the positioning of the smoke box is very convenient being connected to the lower door. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and I would recommend this smoker if asked.
I LOVE THE SMOKER BUT THE SMOKING PAN IS A LITTLE SMALL AND ONLY SMOKERS FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. YOU MUST EMPTY TREY AND RELOAD AND IT TAKES ANOTHER 20-25 MINUTES TO START SMOKING AGAIN. IF YOU TURN THE HEAT UP TO 300 FOR A FASTER SMOKE, THE WOOD CHIPS OR CHUNKS WILL CATCH ON FIRE. MAYBE THEY CAN DESIGN A BETTER WAY TO HOLD MORE CHUNKS AND HAVE THE SMOKING LAST LONGER. YOU HAVE TO BABY IT FOR A FEW HOURS IF YOU WANT THAT MUCH SMOKE ON YOUR FOOD.
It seems like a great smoker. It was delivered quickly even during quarantine. It took quite a bit of work to put it together though & the door came with a dent in it (which was a big bummer since it cost so much).
I bought this last month and have used it to make ribs and pork shoulder so far. I look forward to using it more as summer comes on. Assembly took a while but was pretty straightforward. The thermostat works great and it's a very nice design. The manual says it is prone to rust if left uncovered so I would like to find a good cover for it. I'd also like to have a better sense of how to clean it. I guess I will learn as I go.
Smoked 4 racks of ribs and they were great. It says assembly is 35 min, and that's only if you wrote them. Took me about an hour and a half but that's because of you don't guess right, you'll be taking the legs back off. When I got everything done (so I thought) the gas wouldn't stay on after it's lit. Upon reading here and reviews elsewhere it looks like it's due to the flame sensor not being in all the way (stripped when installing, thin copper) and now I'll wait in a replacement to fix.
I bout this a month ago and itt arrived with the door dented in. Had yo contact Masterbuilt trice Finley hot a new for. It up is dented. This is my second one but the first one also had problems with temperature setting. Loved it at first but gradually got worse. Thought the problem would have been fixed. Now I invested in a new one and same problem only thing it was immediately. So sorry I just didn't do eith s different brand.
