The Masterbuilt Cold smoker is an excellent product. I ordered this item along with 4 rib racks and two fish/vegitable matts to use with my 30 inch electric smoke house...unfortunately those items never arrived at the walmart for me to pick up. I was not happy with the ordering experience using walmart. I will order future masterbuilt products from masterbuilt and not thru walmart. I was very disappointed with my walmart experience.
I have the Masterbuilt smoke and have been happy with it but could only smoke in the winter when it was cold. Now with this cold smoke attachment I can smoke all year long. Love this thing
Bought this unit for my 40" Masterbuilt Digital Smoker. And the first thing I tried was a 5lb pork belly that I first cured with "Pink Salt" Which is a must! you can get it online @ www.butcher-packer.com And cold smoked it for about 6 hours with applewood. Wow, fantastic! I will never buy store bought again. Next is homemade smoked sausage! If you can find this unit, buy it! It sells out quick. But remember, it only works with a Masterbuilt or Masterforge (same thing) "DIGITAL" Electric Models 30" or 40".
Walmart price and delivery was excellent. This item was exactly what I needed to complete a home made smoker project.
I was very surprised at how much smoke this produces. It is a great unit. If you check out other cold smokers prices, this is a bargain. It doesn't raise temps as bad as people claim. But if you MOD it up and use some duct work in between the unit and your smoker it doesn't raise the temp at all making it a true cold smoker.
Only tried it once but it works as expected. Smoked some cheese. Sun on the big smoker is a bigger heat source than the smoke generator.
I used this the day I picked it up. Its creates much more smoke. I used in place of the chip holder in the smoker. You don't have to add chips part way thru the time your smoking. I was glad that I added this unit my smoker. I am planning on using as a cold smoker to do bacon soon. Plan on getting your hands stained when your putting chips in it as the whole inside of the unit is cover smoke. I seasoned it like the directions say to do and when I loaded it to smoke for real I saw how good of a job it did. Have a great time using this add on unit.
I have only used it once, but it seemed to work very good . I think I did not add enough chips in the beginning of the smoke so had to add some about an hour or so later. With a little experimentation I know I can get this smoker to really put out long continuing smoke for hours. This is a must have for Masterbuilt electric smokers! For more info google Masterbuilt Cold Smoker and read some of the threads on smoked meat forums. Some guys put a short piece of pipe between the smoker box and the cold smoker to really lower the temps for smoking cheese or Salmon. Will be smoking a turkey for thanksgiving this week! Can't wait!
Quick and easy to assemble. When I fired up, i liked the continuous smoke coming out. Temperature never got past 65deg (outside was 57deg). Perfecta addition for cold smoking.
Wanted more smoke flavor, and less time putting wood in. Produces good smoke, 4-6 hrs each filling. Not used cold yet,just regular cooking. Works great
