I've had this smoker for a while now and never had an issue. The brisket turns out great and so did my very first turkey on Thanksgiving. The people who say that they get no smoke or little need to remember to TURN and ROTATE the loading chute to drop the wood chips INTO the burner tray. You should never have wood left in the loader if done correctly.
The quality is great. It holds more than I expected, is easy to use, and has made some great smoked foods for us. The only negative is that I don't have a covered patio, so I have to pick up and move it from our backyard and it is heavy. I wish I had one that had 4 castor style wheels that lock.
We had this same model about 7 years ago and sold it when we moved cross country and we we were so excited to find the same model years later. Easy to use and always produces incredible results! We are so happy to have this again!!!
My husband just opened it last night (birthday gift from me) and put it together in about 15 minutes. We haven't used it yet but the instructions were very straight forward. So far so good, will review again after we actually cook something!
This is the third one of these that I have owned over the years. It's nothing fancy but does a great job. That all I need it to do.
I bought this smoker in-store last week for 107.00. It was 100 more online. I like it just fine. The woodchip rotating handle is sort of worthless. It feels like its stuck when you try to open it, you have to pull slightly up when you pull it out. Also, without a glass front, you still have to open the smoker to check the woodchips. When using the rotating woodchip door on the side, it dumped the chips onto the heating element more than not, I wont be using the side door anymore to add chips. The smoker heats up quickly and holds heat well. You may have to tighten the door lock to keep the smoke from leaking around the door. The rubber seal around the door is quite nice. Its an easy adjustment with a small crescent wrench or pliers. I normally use a gas smoker in warm weather. I like this electric smoker for winter. This smoker kept the temp really well on a cold MN winter day. For the 107.00 price I paid, I am very happy with the product. I saw they have units that come with remotes too. I donât know if you can purchase the remote alone but it would be nice for my situation. I could change the temp from my living room looking out onto the deck during cold weather If I had to do it all over, I may have bought the unit with the glass front for 147, but thats just because I like to see the meat cooking.
Arrived with some dents in the back panel where the temperature display is mounted so that made it difficult to attach with screws. Everything else works great. Smoked a small brisket in it at 250 for over 7 hours and the meat only got up to 154 degrees. Had to finish it in the oven. Not impressed so far and I have tried other smokers. Will keep using it to get it seasoned. The water pan blocks most of the heat so you have to put the meat close to the bottom.
I've tried smoking jerky and chicken so far but this thing simply won't smoke. I've read more about this unit and it seems you have to purchase their cold one attachment to really get smoke. I'm sending it back and will bite the bullet on a more expensive smoker.
I purchased a new item and was delivered an obviously refurbished item. The box even came with an Amazon "thanks for giving this device a second life" sticker. It has been re-packaged, its dented and a cable is hanging out.
