I was very pleased with the 2 flowerpots. The quality was great and enhanced the area of my patio. I purchased a third one and put a black painted wood piece on top and am using it as a side table on the patio.
This is a high quality planter. There are no flashing lines and everything's been deburred nicely. Uniform color. We put artificial trees in ours and glued them to patio pavers that sit nicely on top the built-in water trough for stability (go to Mayne's website for schematics and more info about the boxes). Then planted annuals around the edges. We opted not to drill fill holes in these for filling the water trough and see how they do. There are small overflow holes in the bottom side of these planters. Filled them with Pro-Mix high quality potting mix for good drainage. Though the Mayne corporate office is in Canada, these drop ship from Alliance, OH, USA, where they are made, so if you live in that region you'll get them quickly! If I had to offer one critique it's that the flat faces have slight convexity to them, barely noticeable. If you look close you can tell there is a bit of waviness to the lines from the mold. A good thing to know is that the bottoms actually have raised feet (1/4"") molded into them, so it sits off the ground a small amount. For our pool deck, we have a slope in concrete so we put some rubber matting as shims under one side to level them. Since there is already a small gap in the other side from the ""feet"", you hardly notice the shims.
Lightweight + lovely. Sturdy enough to not blow away, but light enough to move inside when away. I put a potted tree in it, but could also plant one and take advantage of water reservoir feature on bottom.
I ordered multiple planters for the front porch and these were by far my favorite. Family and neighbors have commented on how gorgeous these are too. They are a decent weight- not too heavy to move easily even with dirt, but not so light that they blow away. There is a sprinkler hook up but I haven't tried it.
Love them, I'm using them for tomatoes on my guest house porch, they hardly have to be watered. When summer is over I plan on planting seasonal flowers.
I have two of the long patio planters we use every year. I cant remember really, but they have to be 10yrs old. Still in great shape and work great for growing flowers all season long. The water reservoir is great when we leave for days on end in the hot summer. I will definitely buy more!
Just a lovely addition to our front porch. The planters arrived sooner than expected but were a welcome sight. Neighbors and friends continue to ask where we're they purchased from. Continuing to receive positive comments on them. Love the construction and the self watering system.
We live in a townhouse and there is not a lot of privacy between our deck and the neighbors. I ordered one of these and planted an arborvitae, it has worked out perfectly! These planters are a great size and will hold a substantial sized bush or tree. Also, an added bonus that they have the built in water reservoir.
I purchased five of these in multiple sizes to create a bistro type ""area"" on one corner of my patio. They are perfect and look lovely! Unless you stare you would not know it is plastic. I also love the interior irrigation system. One free tip, be careful not to go overboard on the fertilized potting soil. I planted palms in two of these, as the sun heats up the container it intensifies the effect of the fertilizer. I lost $100.00 worth of plants! Live and learn! Either way, these are awesome and I am getting many complements!
I like their design and functionality and they fit perfectly with the deck that I've been working on so much so that I want to order two more but the price went up $50 each in 5 days for price now I have to give it three stars but for what I pay for them I give five stars
