Wanted a container with a lid to hide and store a garden hose on my deck. I've had the gray Mayfield box all summer and I really love it. It keeps the hose out of sight and protects it from debris and sunlight when not in use. It looks attractive, too. The lid on mine fits snugly, but hasn't been difficult to remove and put back. After reading reviews that said some hoses were hard to coil inside the Fairfield, I ordered a Zero-G hose from a hardware store and it works very well. The hose does not retract, and it won't coil in a tight circle, but it is very light-weight and very easy to put back in the box. I let it hang over the edge of the deck and stretch it out on a sloping lawn to dry before I put it away (same as some retractible hoses recommend), and I get no water in the box. The hose is light enough that the extra steps to dry it out and store are very easy. I couldn't be more pleased.
I like this very much. Yes, the lid is very tight as other have stated, but I simply don't clamp it down tight unless we have a bad storm forecast or leaving town. In fact I'm ordering a second on for the back of the house. Very nice looking and heavy!
This very clean looking garden hose box keeps the area looking neat & tidy without sacrificing practicality. I would love it if they designed an even larger one for non-collapsible hoses!
I love the beautiful metal and ceramic hose pots but I really wanted something that was lightweight, would not overheat in the Texas summers, was not too large and also looks good. This fill the bill perfectly. I like that the lid fits snuggly - no blowing away. It's much more attractive and protective than the old hose reel that I had. A really nice product.
Self-retractable hose prevents having to wind a hose. Top a bit hard to remove. Suggest you put 4 small holes in the bottom for excess water drainage. Thank you!
It's an attractive container for the hose in our front yard. I purchased the white and it matches the trim on my house nicely. I love that's it's covered, keeping the hose from getting too dirty, plus I won't have to bring it in in the winter. I only wish there was a version with a winding mechanism to make it easier when putting it away, but a least with the featherweight hose it's not too hard to wrestle back in. Have only had it a few weeks, so I can't yet speak to how well it will hold up over time.
I would have given this 5 stars except I would like to have a second hole for the hose to come out of. As it is, you have to drape the hose over the top of the bin when you unwind it.
I have three different types of hoses and I have tried all three with the box. Not only is the cover hard to remove and put back on, the water/dirt stays inside which defeats the purpose of preserving the hose. When finished with the hose, it's difficult to get the hose back in the box and keep it going in the same direction as specified by your directions as I bought this hose from your company. Wish I could endorse but I can't.
