Works OK in daylight. Forget using at night as the recording is totally blurry even at the 1080p setting. Easy set up and installation. The internal battery lasts less than 5 minutes for still photos. Paid 20 bucks in store-online 17 bucks. Bought 2 and I'll be returning both as I need a better camera for commuting at night.

Poor quality not as advertised

Piece of junk. Difficult to setup and makes no sense. Records all night sitting in the driveway even with motion detection on. Any button you hit it resets to defaults and you have to set it up again. Pictures are horrible and you have no definition. No license plates and you can't even read the signs on the side of the road. Definitely not 1080p HD resolution. I have the recording set for three minutes and it only goes for about a minute then locks up. Original 4gb mSD card failed on day 2. Put in a 32gb

Bought 4 in store for family vehicles, box says 6 IR LED.......white lights are NOT IR LED. I will not use a camera that will be shining white lot onto my window from inside....glare much. If it says IR I expect IR. Will be returning all 4 in morning.

Less than One Star - Lasted 3 days - Can't return.

This was an early Christmas gift, but unfortunately, it only worked for 3 days. The battery would only last 2-3 SECONDS, the motion detection did not work at all and the quality was very very poor. Last night, I got in the car and the entire cabin smelled of burnt electronics. I'm glad it didn't set my car on fire. It's now rendered unusable and Wal-Mart customer service said I needed to contact the manufacturer and sent me away.

Absolute Garbage

Pretty much worthless for its intended purpose and far from what is advertised. Charger broke before I could even plug it in. Depressed the plunger on the tip a little and it shot the spring and fuse back into the body. Had to use a usb cord from a PlayStation controller. No sd card included. Zero battery life beyond a few seconds to save after shutting car off. So the picture of taking it out of the car to photo external damage is some false advertising. "Night Mode" means shining white LED lights on the windshield. What happens when you shine a light on glass? Image is completely useless due to reflection and glare. No IR light, even though it is advertised as such. Resolution is garbage. 1080P is about the quality I had with an early flip-phone. And lights or reflection completely washes out image. Can't even get a license plate at night going bumper to bumper. Overall, this is absolute junk and downright false advertising, or at least severely and intentionally misleading. This lowers the bar for quality standards, even for Wal-Mart.

Complete waste of money

IR LEDs are white lights. Heck. You know what. To save time read the other negative reviews. And add that even in vga mode, you can only record up to 40 minutes. It doesn't auto loop. I have to reformat the card every time. This was a complete waste of time.

Award zero stars - tops!

Noticed this dash cam on clearance and decided to buy two – one for me and one for a gift. I'm glad I tested them both first. They are complete garbage and absolutely worthless! I wish I could award zero stars. Top 10 Likes: Hmmmm… Top 10 Dislikes: 1. Definitely NOT 1080p – not even a country mile close! 2. The 720p setting reminds me of the old ¼-VGA CMOS cameras of the mid-90's – horrible video quality. 3. Frame rate is maybe 10-15 frames per second – tops. VERY choppy video. 4. The so-called IR LEDs are a joke. They are nothing more than white LEDs – terrible for “night viewing.” Don't use this mode for anything other than taking still photos, and even then, only for close-ups, not through the car's window, and only provided the battery will let you. 5. Internal battery doesn't last long enough to take stills of a crash scene. 6. The wide angle lens isn't. 7. The 1080p videos freeze after only a few seconds. Tried different micro SD cards with no luck. 8. Video playback seems to be 1.5 - 2.5 times normal speed. 9. Camera boots up in record mode. 10. Load-testing of the 12V adapter showed it couldn't come close to its current rating (350 mA). In fact, at 200 mA the voltage output dropped well below 5 volts. I wouldn't mind using this product as a deep sea fishing weight, but alas, the unit is so light and cheaply built, I'm afraid it would float. Turns out there are plenty of negative YouTube reviews as well.

Even at the fire sale price of $9.00, this camera does almost nothing it advertises. First, the picture is not HD in any way, shape or form. At best it's a 640x480 sensor blown up to HD dimensions. You won't even be able to read license plates unless you're sitting on their bumper and even that's marginal given the Scosche's inability to handle basic dynamic lighting and glare. Second, the advertised view angle is amazingly exaggerated and only gets narrower as you increase image definition. At 1080, you're probably getting 45' degrees at best, which is almost unusable narrow. The night vision is just as laughable, consisting of normal white LEDs. Seriously, it doesn't even automatically switch between day and night. About the only thing this camera is good for is maybe recording an accident. You'll get the car color and that's probably about it. My sample struggled to even read the manufacturing badging on cars right in front of me becuse of its inability to cope with lighting. Avoid at all cost. Your $9 is better spent at McDonalds.

Waste of money and time setting up. Useless when you need it, you can barely read the letter of a street sign when stopped 3 feet from it, much less a license plate..... even at the reported 1080. Luckily my son has a "Vava car dash cam" when someone ran into him.... you could read the license plate as the car hit an ran, audio was great too- you could hear the accident. Returning this one and purchasing that one.
