In my Construction technology program at Iowa Lakes Community College, we design and build a house from the ground up each year. In order to do this, we need lots of different tools. One of the tools we need most is an impact driver for all the fasteners that go into a home. We recently got our hands on the Metabo HPT 18V Cordless Triple Hammer Bolt Impact. We ran over 100 screws into various materials including 2x12s, LVLs, and 4x4s. The students and I were really impressed with how much power and speed this impact had, especially considering how lightweight the tool feels in your hand. It had a ton or toque as well. My students had the idea to “race” it with a couple of the other brands of impacts we had in our trailer. It seemed to be the fastest impact in the race, which they thought was pretty cool! The LEDs on it were super bright which we really will appreciate when working in low lit areas. This will be a nice addition to our tool arsenal in our shop or our jobsite trailer.

What an upgrade from my 2014 Hitachi impact which still runs great! But this has so many updated features it's enjoyable to use. Power is plenty and speed modes make for great control. Tri lights are a welcome feature. Nothing bad to say in my short experience.
This impact almost eliminates the need for a stand drill with the four modes it can anything from delicate work like installing door hardware to driving 10 inch timberlok screws or lags with no problem operates smoothly I would definitely recommend to anyone looky for a awesome impact the belt clip fits nice to either a jean pocket or tool belt pouches definitely my go to now plenty of power thanks metabohpt
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this impact driver as my regular use driver for a few weeks now. I have to say, Metabo HPT did an awesome job with this piece. Variable modes are very helpful with noticeable differences in power. I've used it on several small tasks, and I also tested it out driving some 2.5” screws through some 4x6 landscaping timbers. Pros: - very comfortable to use. Buttons are well laid out and the vibration of the tool is comfortable. - lights are VERY bright which his helpful of course. it's handy to have a button to turn the light on and off without having to pull the trigger. - when running 2.5” screws through landscaping timbers, it was like driving them through butter. The screws flew through the lumber and on full speed setting kept driving down into the wood as far as the bit would reach no problem at all. - honorable mention: the case I received with this made my day! The case I received is different than pictured. It is black and there is a third latch in the middle which took me a minute to figure out. It opens a hidden compartment up top where you can store bits, miscellaneous tools, and even fit an extra battery. Cons (minor): - instead of just sliding the bits in like most impact drivers I've used, you have to pull on the collet ring to properly seat the bit. Not a big deal, just takes some getting used to and not as quick. Also, when ejecting the bit it does not spring out. Again, not a big deal just different and not as quick.
The power and quality are better than my ridgid sets.
I bought this for the IP56 rating because I work in the rain a lot. It has met all my expectations. It might not be the most powerful impact driver on paper but it does great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is for the Metabo HPT 18v Triple Hammer BOLT Impact Driver (WH18DC). MY BACKGROUND I'm a homesteader and I also own a business where I do various jobs in woodworking and carpentry for my customers. I have high expectations for my power tools, because I need them to perform as they should so I can make money and keep the homestead operating. WHAT I LIKE: The list of what I like about this tool is long! (1) My favorite upgrade on this BOLT version vs the previous triple hammer is the tri-beam LED. Yes! In my opinion, every impact driver should have a triple LED light. It is uniform and it is bright. Well done! (2) Like the previous 18v triple hammer, this tool has great power! It doesn't have an increase of power over the previous version, but I really don't think it needs to. (3) I like the way that it feels vs traditional impacts. It just feels smooth as it drives in the fasteners. There's very little vibration. (4) I like the ergonomics of this impact. The rubber over molding is near perfect and the mold/shape of the grip area feels very natural and helps to reduce fatigue. (5) It is has an IP56 rating for dust and water, which is a big deal if you're going to use this tool outdoors without reservation. I'd really like to see every power tool have an IP56 rating. (6) I like that all of the buttons, other than the trigger and forward/reverse switch, are located on the top of the base. On the previous version, some of the buttons were on the top and some on the side. I don't typically use all of the speed control settings, but I do use the high and low speed. They seem to work well. I'm glad that this impact includes a full 5 speed settings incase I need them in the future. (7) As always, it's a big benefit that this tool can be used with all Metabo HPT/Hitachi 18v and 36v slide pack batteries, new and old as well as the AC adapter. WHAT I DON'T LIKE: The collet is neither quick insert nor quick release. I truly do not understand why this is. As far as I can tell, adding a quick release/insert collet to the triple hammer has been the top requested feature for this tool from professional users. It really should have one. That's it, as far as what I don't like. CONCLUSION: This is an amazing tool with great power and features and adding the triple LED light is a BIG plus for me! The price point on this tool is great as well! It's no wonder why so many pro's use the triple hammer even if it's there only Metabo HPT tool! I highly recommend this impact to anyone who is on the Metabo HPT line and even if you're not. NOTE TO METABO HPT: PLEASE add a quick insert/release collet on the next version!!
Would've love to give it 5 stars but i find myself hitting the reverse button to many times when going to use it because the grip is a little small. Other than that very powerful and very useful impact.
