The nokia lumia 521 is my first smartphone, and I couldn't have made a better choice! The keys are easy to read, and it pretty much does everything I need it to do. I could not sync my last phone to my pc, but I was able to sync my nokia on the first try, with no problems. Although I am still getting to know the apps and bells and whistles, I am having fun learning my new phone. I will be purchasing 2 more for my husband and son.
I recently had an iphone but because of the insanely high contract plan, I had to get a prepaid phone, I researched numerous phones and plans. I found that tmobile had one of the best prepaid plans and I thought the windows phones looked really nice, so I got it. It has been the best purchase I have made in awhile, some things I love about this phone is that you can edit pictures right on the phone before I had to transfer pictures to my computer and edit there, it also has microsoft word, power point and excel, but as a college student what really comes in handy is the microsoft word, because I can easily open, edit or even type up documents on my phone and you can print them from it too or easily transfer to the computer to print, Another thing that I especially like is the fact you can easily transfer music to this phone whereas with the iphone you have to go through itunes. So, I would have to say windows phone is definitely better than the iphone and its cheaper. p.s. It takes better pictures too :)
NOKIA LUMIA 521 The screen is very responsive and its very lightweight. Plus, it's very cute..... Love the selection of ring tones and backgrounds, as well. I am going to upgrade to a 64GB microSD, I plan to save lots of pics and data... The phone doesn't come with a lot of memory. Its a really nice phone...for everyday smartphone users.. If you play heavy duty games, you may want something else... I am so tired of my iPhone and expensive products to replace....$ 20 for a data cable. Bye, Bye Apple and Hello Nokia Lumia........
...But I got a great deal of a phone that I've dropped multiple times. I left the factory clear sticker over the glass face because it took me awhile to figure out which buttons did what. I decided to order a screen protector later. Meanwhile, I've been able to use the 4G capabilities to surf the web, watch videos and listen to Pandora. I've also tried to use the Nokia mapping function and it seems to work fine. My biggest gripe and why I give it a 4 instead of a 5, is that there's not enough internal memory. You definitely have to get a microSD card if you're going to take lots of pictures and videos with this phone. The panorama feature is great for the camera and fun to use as well as the photo animation feature. Video comes in pretty crisp and clean. I like the fresh looking user interface and the Live Tiles. Battery life, seems fine, I don't use alot of Wi-Fi and have haven't tried tethering yet. All in all, a good enough phone for me. I might upgrade to an Apple product in the future, but just not sure yet.
I imagine in this current battle of smart phones the Windows 8 Lumia 521 is what Blackberry used to be, except the Windows phones are only starting to make their mark. This phone is excellent for the business oriented consumer: the Outlook (or hotmail) Contacts is a great place to organize your people; through Office you can quickly access your docs and spread sheets; and being able to organize your tiles makes accessing your stuff quick and convenient. For example, I have my tiles organized by personal finance, social media, and entertainment. This phone is also great for anyone looking for an inexpensive route into the smart phone market, and inexpensive doesn't mean cheap on the features. It takes excellent pictures and videos, runs apps smoothly, and to be honest, I've tinkered with my friends' and familys' iPhones and Galaxies, yet I prefer the interface and responsiveness of the Nokia Lumia 521 over them all. I'm please with my purchase; my Nokia Lumia 521 more than meet my needs.
I never do reviews but I was completely surprised at just how nice this phone is. I ordered it online unseen. I do not need a new phone but I am always looking for a good buy. When I saw I could buy a Windows 8 phone with decent specs for $130 I ordered it to test and play with. I set it up on the tmobile 30/month 5 gig 4g plan and carry it now as well as my nexus 4. Is it the fastest? Is it the best screen? hec no! But it is a darn good phone with clean clear phone calls. It is a nice entry/mid level smart phone that will do what 90% of most users will ever want or need and do it well. Scrolling is smooth, response is good. The Nokia Music allows offline playing. The new system update a couple days ago added some nice features to the phone and windows including FM radio. I added a 16 gig memory card for 10 dollars although it has 8 gig included. In my area the 4g speeds are about 10/11 meg and that matches most home networks locally. My son needed a new phone and also bought one and is very pleased with his It works great and the wifi calling feature sounds as clear as using the phone network. Clearly the nexus is faster and has a better screen and far more apps at this point and at $350 unlocked it was also a great buy but it is a high end phone. Buy this phone if you want a great phone that does 80/90% of what the top tier phones do for almost 20% of the cost of an Iphone/S4. 130 vs 350-800 for some phones that while superior, just may be more than what many need or want. Excellent value BTW I am also liking Windows phone. It is simple to use easy screen scrooling and pretty fast. It does need work and apps to grow to the level of android 4.3 etc but it works well with my Windows 8 desktop and having real WORD and EXEL is a bonus.
Me and my husband we be the bought this phone on black Friday it was for 99$ ,its very nice phone with all features like iPhone and Samsung at very nominal price.speakers are great.user friendly.great apps, camera is also very good.for 99$ its so much worth.if you don't want to spend money on expensive phone this is really good one for you.
After all the positive reviews of this phone, I made the decision to buy it, and I'm glad I did. It's my first smartphone. The main thing I'm not too crazy about is that I have to turn the Wi-Fi connectivity off in order to send and receive pics. I don't understand why this happens, and most forums and solutions I've read are very confusing. I think it's a T-Mobile/sim card issue and not a phone issue, from what I've researched about it. This has been happening with other T-Mobile customers. It's a better deal to buy this phone through Wal-Mart than through T-Mobile. I really like the features and the ease of use, although the camera function takes some getting used to. Overall, I really like the tiles and how smooth and quick everything runs.
I was asked to enter my address before ordering to see if coverage was available in my area. I was told yes the service was available at my address so I went ahead and ordered the phone online as a birthday gift for my daughter. Shipping was fast and activation was simple but sadly after activating the phone and powering it on a no service signal popped up. Called customer service and they were absolutely terrible to deal with! No help at all. I had to return it. Very disappointing experience for both myself and my daughter.
I was very impressed with the phone but the service was sub par. After reading the reviews I opted for the $30.00 plan as most of my calls were from home. after two days of wifi calling I noticed my minutes were depleated from 100 to 50. I called TMobile and asked why and was told that their policy was that your minutes will be charged even if your calls were on wifi. I told them I'm calling the Attorney General to report them and I brought back the phone to Walmart and exchanged for a $45.00 Verizon plan with unlimited talk text and web. DON"T BE FOOLED
