The dock was delivered in one week - 9 days earlier than promised! Plus it was 25% less than buying straight from Microsoft. Plugged it in and started adding accessories which magically worked immediately. I already have a second monitor plugged in and am ordering a mouse and 10-key pad today.
Works out of the box. Plug and play. Gives 4 usb 3.0 ports, 2 display (you'll need adapters), and Ethernet, all by just plugging in the magnetic power cord. Very well made, and easy to use.
Surprised at the small size, very happy with performance. Our end user is very happy with this simple and solid connection to his monitors, keyboard and mouse, with only one connection to make to his Surface Pro IV when he comes into the office.
I purchased a new Microsoft Surface Book laptop and it does not have many ports. I also purchased the PC for both work and travel. The docking station was the perfect solution. It enables me to connect to the company's server, a large monitor, a backup, plug in's for a wireless mouse and keyboard and headphones. It also provides a AC hookup so that I can save the one that came with the PC for my travels. Then when I want to take the laptop home or on the road, I simply unhook the AC connection, and I am ready to go. Perfect solution.
Works perfectly as advertised. Simple, efficient way to manage all my cords and inputs. Small footprint. Solid product. Easy to use, just plug everything in and go.
It works the way it's supposed to, but it does not have ports for HDMI cords. Be sure to either purchase monitors that use USB or purchase a HDMI to USB converter.
Dock worked great. Walmart offered it 75 dollars below retail. Had it shipped to store and got it in less then a week. Worked great out of the box. Very easy to install just plug and play.
This dock works well with my Surface pro 4. It adds additional USB ports and allows me to very easily dock my SP4 in my study and have it instantly connect to 2 external monitors. My only complaint (and it is a minor one) is that the unit is a little bulky. What you see in the picture is only half of the unit, it comes with a power supply that is about the same size as the unit shown. it's not a huge deal and they sit one on top of the other in my study but it's a bit more bulk and an additional cable to connect the 2 units. It also makes the whole thing quite heavy, which is fine if leaving it at home as a real "dock" but not so great if you expected portability for expansion on the road.
If you want to turn your Surface into a desktop workstation this is for you. It is the easiest docking station I've ever worked with. Just plug in the dock into the Surface power connector, hook up your monitors (HDMI with the mini display port cable work best), add a USB wireless keyboard connector, and you're ready to go. When you are ready to leave the office just pull out the power connector and all the configurations remain for your next use.
I got my surface dock and luckily it worked b/c the wires were noticeably not taken care of. It was clear they had been twisted and turned so many times that they were loose on the inside.
