I started using this product years ago. It isn't for the die-hard antique restoration enthusiast but it serves a purpose for the average diy enthusiast. I have used it on it's own and over chalk paint projects in place of Briwax or Annie Sloane wax as the final finish. Please keep making this product!!!
Excellent Product: Indigo MINWAX EXPRESS COLOR wiping stain & finish. This came on the market less than a year ago. It was hard to find at first. Now it appears to be discontinued. I have an entire room of cabinetry 3/4 finished and NEED MORE. Help. It was easily applied, was the exact color we wanted, and we loved the results. Until we can't finish what we started. I will give ZERO stars for that, but the product was good and deserved five stars. Company managers, maybe not. I cannot recommend to friends due to the short time it has been on the market, how difficult it was to find a year ago, and discontinued now. Craziness from a company I used to depend on!
Love the tinted wood stain! Gave my piece a nice fun look!
I was installing some new handrails in my house so I went to the store to see what they had in stain to hopefully match the existing woodwork. I came across the Express Color Stain so I thought I would give it a try. Mahogany was a close match and being a small project the stain and finish in one was a great added benefit. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to apply and the finish came out great. I would say it looked as good as anything I have done in the past with stain and then a finish coat. I would have definitely used it for my next project but there wasn't a Maple color. Please make more colors, Maple, Cherry & etc.
EXPRESS STAIN is easy to use once you've done so a few times. As an Interior Designer I've used the ONYX stain on approx. 20 furniture pieces applying with a staining pad and lightly sanding between coats. You literally can have a beautifully finished piece in a matter of hours.
I found this product online while checking out wood dye...very glad I tried it, easy to use nice finish and looks very nice. I have tried 3 different colors and plan to try more...I thank you for your reply to my question about using a poly clear coat over the color.
Good make sure you sand off the old varnish.
This produces a beautiful even colour in an uncommon shade and looks fabulous. It tends to be a bit darker blue than manufacturer pictures show, more tending into navy than azure. I love making things out of wood, and anything blue so I have used a lot of this. The shade has been consistent between tubes. It seals the wood well and is easy to clean stained pieces because of that sealing. These little tubes go a long way, and an opened tube is astonishingly long lasting when firmly closed and stored properly. That is probably because of the little release gasket thing in the neck of the tube, which is also the reason I dropped a star. It's quite difficult to get a small amount out, as enough pressure to get it past the pressure seal results in a big bloop of stain. So what makes leftovers keep well also is a pain for fiddly last bits as it frequently results in a puddle of unused stain for me. That said, I've bought this stain multiple times, as the colour alone is worth the occasional frustration with dispensing.
I tried this thinking it was real water base stain horrified when realized its wood tone latex paint!! absolute garbage for fine woodworking dies extremely fast leaving impossible to remove dried streaks and you guys call this oak really its a nasty beige tone he only way I was ale to fix my grandfathers Gerstner case was having to completely strip it!! I been working in carpentry for over 30 yrs have a youtube channel and will show my great displeasure ..only old masters and Varathane!
I recieved a tube with a big hole in it. Not happy. I put my hand in the bag and came out with a blue hand.
