[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was super happy with my purchase of the MINWAX Pre-Stain wood conditioner. This product was real easy to use, the instruction on the label are very easy to follow. I do not think my project of refurbishing my parents wooden sign would have turned out as nice without the Pre-Stain.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love to refinish furniture, and get so excited when I get to sand a piece down to bare wood and apply a fresh new stain! A lot of people skip a super important step…Pre-stain Wood Conditioner! I spoken with people who have skipped this step and their unfortunately their piece turned out blotchy and uneven. I always use Minwax Pre-stain Wood Conditioner and am always happy with the even stain absorption and beautiful results! No blotchiness here!!!
I didn't know if my wood was hard or soft so I applied this preconditioned as a safety measure. It works great. After using the preconditioned the stain went on flawlessly. My table looks brand new.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pre-stain conditioner was a no brainer to use on my new walkway build as it was untreated lumber and kind of rough to the touch. This conditioner allowed the stain to be applied evenly and without any mismatches in color.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Minwax is the best wood finish on the market you can use it for anything from handrails, window sills furniture and floors. Doesn't leave a mess and dries pretty quick. It goes a long way if you use it the right way. Will contiune to buy all minwax products.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was searching for a product that would turn these plain barrel planters back the way the use to look when I bought them new. The outcome was amazing and I'm very pleased with the results I can't wait to do more projects.
I frequently sand, stain, and refinish antique pine in historic Massachusetts. Minwax Pre-Stain is essential to creating an even color and I've completed over 4,000 square feet of projects dating back to the 1620's with a 100% success rate.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used the Minwax brand for years but always skipped the pre-staining conditioner until now. After some disappointing staining results on a pine desk (areas of the wood turned black instead of the light brown color that I was going for), I decided to try this product for my pine rounds project. It was easy to apply with a rag. It soaked right in. I wiped off the excess after 15 mins and applied the Minwax honey stain. I also stained the backside of the rounds that weren't conditioned to compare. In the end, there was not a huge difference between the conditioned and bare surface after staining. However, the pre-conditioned side matched the color reference more closely. It had a slight extra sheen and the knots didn't get black so that's a plus. My personal opinion is that it's not necessary for all staining projects but if you're working on something that you want as perfect as possible, this will give the finish a little boost when it's all said and done.
I have completed numerous staining/painting projects in the past, never using pre-stain conditioner with very good results. Bought some unfinished parawood furniture and decided to use this conditioner for the perfect finish. Followed instructions on the back label and final result showed heavy blotches and dark spots. Is there a way to correct the finish to the even uniform look I expected? How?
This product did not work for my table and was a waste of money. I ended up with a blotchy tabletop after using it, which is what I tried to prevent.
