Ok, I am not an expert when it comes to working with stain, but I have done my share of projects over the years. This is was the first AND last time I will use this particular product (not Minwax in general). If you use too little the finish is dull and faded, yet if you apply a thick coat, it puckers and appears to have an orange skin texture. Applying several thin coats (allowing proper dry time as directed) results in the same uneven puckered texture. In a dry area with good air flow the dry time also takes forever. We stripped and sanded a jewelery armoire and I tried to stain it the first time. After removing my mess my husband gave it a shot and his results were the same. Third times a charm - we used another Minwax stain and seperate polyurethane and it turned out great.
