[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Minwax filler is great for indoor or outdoor projects. It fills well, goes in and on way and dries with minimal shrinking. It dries pretty fast and takes paint very well. Matching with stain is a lot trickier because the grain and hardness of the wood you are patching makes a big difference. This has saved me from a major wood railing replacement of a 2x10x16. Instead of replacing the whole rail and spindals, I was able to cut out a rotted patch and fill with no wax. It looks great, and has held well thru a year of Midwest heat and cold. It does the job!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is a woodworking enthusiast and recently made a growth chart for our children. He uses a variety of different products dependent upon the project and for this project stainable Minwax wood filler was just what he needed. Minwax products are always dependable and you know exactly the outstanding quality you will receive. The product was the right texture for filling various imperfections and stained perfectly. Wasn't too dry nor too wet and drying was no issue. Also not overly gritty so it sanded and stained with ease. We will continue to return to Minwax for dependable, high quality products at reasonable prices.
Ordered from my local Walmart, however, it was delivered seperately I presume from another store. Anyway it arrived on a timely basis and I appreciate the deligence.
This product is great! Easy clean up and easy to work with. The color is neutral making it ideal for any project shade. Works excellent with Stains!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is extremely durable, sandable, formable, and stainable! I professionally refurbish furniture for a living and frequently use it for filling hardware hole and patching missing wood! Love this product ❤️
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently built a table and was very proud of it until my Mother-in-law's only comment was how she would have filled in the screw holes. So, my next move was buying wood filler for an already stained table. This process could not have been any easier. In all transparency, this was my first wood working project, so I needed something that is easy to use. The application is very straight forward. I used a putty knife to apply and smooth the wood filler then let it dry for a couple of hours. I sanded it down a little, cleaned off the debris with a damp towel, let it dry for a few minutes, then applied the first coat of stain. One round of stain wasn't enough to blend it as much as I wanted. The second time I dabbed the stain on thicker and more directly on the wood filler then let it sit longer before wiping. I am very happy with the outcome! My next project is a doll house and I'm glad to know about this beforehand!
Hard to apply, would easily crumble then fall apart and onto the ground
Wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased this product (which I usually do?). Finishing my beautiful butcher block countertops, but had a few places to fill in. Filled with this 'stainable' wood filler by Minwax -and it has totally ruined my project. I even thoroughly sanded where the filler was applied. It will not accept any stain. Boo Minwax!!
read direction, followed exactly, and ruined a gift for my wife because the stain DOES NOT adhere to the wood filler. absolute garbage. this is going straight into the garbage.
Used as directed, not only did the filler itself not stain, apparently it filled in all pores around the area and prevented stain from getting in the wood giving each nail hole a nice halo of unstained wood. Looks terrible and will probably have to paint the table I'd rather have as stained wood.
