I've been a painting contractor for 40 years. This is the best polyurethane we have ever used. Customers love the appearance of it. It's super durable, it dries quickly, and cleans up with water.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This brings out the new look to anything you stain. I am in love with this product and will be using it again on all my wood care. It brings out a great shiny look and leaves your woodwork looking shiny. It's easy to apply and doesn't drip or leave any harsh smell.
I am making a red oak table and have used regular poly in the past. This one is amazing, it is easy and clean to apply. You just need to make sure you don't apply it too thick. Unlike other polyurethane I have used in the past this one didn't drip at all. Very easy to use and even easier to clean up with water and soap.
I used the satin form of this product three years ago on my textured laminate kitchen counters that were dulling. I put three coats on the less used parts of the counter and four coats around the sink, I let the varnish cure for a month before using the counters. I used this product because I figured that if it was good for floors, it had to be good for kitchen counters. I cannot show picture because I sold my house and moved 200 km away, Don't forget to clean surfaces with degreaser before starting to varnish and lightly sand surfaces between coats.
Easiest poly finish yet. Goes on easy, self levels well and water cleanup. I use a foam brush for this and it literally rinses clean. What's not to like!
First I want to say that as a professional wood flooring refinish contractor myself, I personally "Love this product!" . It is durable, easy to use, self leveling, and cost effective. It allows me to do all my coats (3) , in 1 day. this makes me money. This product is also great for it's low odor. Customers are overjoyed that there are no heavy fumes like a traditional polyurethane
I had to sand between every coat on a large super smooth walnut slab. It dried with so many brush marks left that I had to resend with 400 grit to get it flat again. I tried a temp of 60° and 70° with the same results. Never had that problem with regular water based Minwax poly.
What a nightmare to work with this product!!! Impossible to create a perfect finish coat with this terrible product. I have tried foam applicators, and synthetic brushes, with the same bad results. BAD: it dries too fast, impossible to coat a larger area with one end to be drying already before you finish the other end??!!! BAD: it does not self-level, any small drip from the brush or small heavier coat of this polyurethane left from the brush along the edge will not level, and will leave water marks that have to be sanded and the whole piece coated again. BAD: it does not self level and thus more coats will not necessarily result in better finish, on the contrary, more coats will create more imperfection, making the final result worse :-( BAD: it does not seal the wood well.. even after 3 coats with a brush, air bubbles appear in many areas of the surface.. even though, every coat has been lightly sanded with 320-grid paper.. JUST BAD... and will not buy again!!!!
So much for it being CLEAR! I have used this in the past on a dark would desk top, and it was fine. Just added it to a White desk I just re-finished for my daughters birthday, and YELLOW! Works fine on dark surfaces, but would NOT recommend for anything light. It is NOT CLEAR... it has a yellow/brown-ish tint, and it does dry that way. Super disappointed.
Great for small projects but not great for table tops. Was working on 36"x80" walnut desk table top and it was easy to apply but did not evenly add that expected oil polyurethane finish look. Some places where darker surrounded by a white fuzzy area across the tabletop after 3 coats. Thought it could be trapped moisture so I sanded it down and tried a again and it still had the same issue. Uses synthetic brush the first time and a foam brush the second with sanding of 220 sandpaper in between.minmax needs to make video showing how they would apply this product to a large product to prevent overlapping and other issues.
