We used this navigation system to go from California to Florida when we moved. Whenever we needed gas or food, it sent us right to it and showed us how far off the highway the rest stop was. This is a wonderful piece of equipment to have for every day things.
The product is a great help. I bought it for my daughter for Christmas, as she just moved to a new area and was having trouble finding her way around. Now she goes from place to place with ease. She is going on job interviews and is never late!! The Mio gets her there in plenty of time.
Immediately after getting this product we put it to good use driving over 500 miles. The only time it gave us directions that led us to a dead end (because the roads have changed in the last 3 months) it immediately recalculated and gave us perfect directions. Any device such as this will have its faults, but overall this is a great GPS unit for an entry unit and a good price. I also really like that it can be used while walking around as well as driving.
I think this is fabulous! I've been wanting one for months (I love techie toys), and received this as a gift. I think it's a wonderful product, couldn't be happier with it.
I bought this last week and used for mu long trip. It's excellent. This doesn't have advanced options like blue-tooth, mp3 player etc.... but who really wants simply directions...it's simply superb.
Overall I'm very satisfied with my Mio DigiWalker. It gets me where I need to go with out getting lost, and the text to speech which makes it possible for the unit to say street names is much more helpful then you would think. My only complaints about the digiwalker is the slightly disappointing number of POI's (points of interest). I would still recommend the DigiWalker for someone looking for a simple GPS system.
This device is outstanding for its price. It is very accurate and the maps are up to date. The user interface is a breeze and it is very simple to input directions. The audio direction are also very clear and make navigating unfamiliar areas much easier.
No wonder, this product is so cheap (>200). You would have to wait 5-10 mins before this piece actually gets a signal. So buy this product if you are not in hurry to travel. This product would say 'GPS Signal Lost' for 10 mins every time I switched ON my GPS. But on-route, it provided good results. I had previous version of MIO that worked perfectly, except it didnt say street names. But this new one has poor reception. Hope this review helps you decide what to buy, if you want to buy MIO.
This is supposed to be the model replacing the C220. They got rid of the SD map card of the C220. Now the map is preloaded in the unit's built in 1 gig flash memory. The BIG problem is that now there is only 750,000 Points Of Interests (POI) loaded. The C220 model it's replacing had millions and other GPS units out there has over 6 million. True, this unit has an SD expansion slot, but there's currently NO card available to expand the POI database unless you want to create them yourself...and who wants to pay extra later on for an expansion card? The new Text To Speech (TTS) feature is great however. It's nice to hear the names of the approaching streets. Overall, the unit functions well with good user interface but the limited number of POIs is a major drawback specially if you're in a city you don't know and you want directions to your favorite store and it's not in your database. The C230 should have more built in memory to accomodate more POIs.
My Mio C230 has been somewhat of a disappointment. During a 300 mile trip, the "follow" icon mysteriously disappeared. Consequently, after physically moving the map (manually zooming & paning), there was no quick way to have the unit show the driver's current location. It was rather frustrating to drive in a new city with a frozen screen. On the same trip, the device crashed and then rebooted automatically. After the reboot, the "follow" icon reappeared. Mio engineers have to remove a few bugs from the OS. On the positive side, Mio C230 is the lowest price text-to-speech unit (says "Turn on Elm Street" as opposed to "turn in 300 ft.") But, the text-to-speech comes at a price: the number of POIs have been reduced from millions to several thousands: your local Walmart/ Target did not make the cut. In other reviews I have read, Mio user interface has been rated as a bit non-intuitive but after reading the manual and spending some time playing with the unit, navigating through the different screens becomes natural. Bottom line: If text-to-speech is important to you at the lowest possible price, Mio230 GPS should be on your short list.
