I’ve been using miracle grow potting mixes for years. Yes the soil is unsterilized. My method is simple . I add Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control to any and all potting mixes. This will help keep pests out of your life. Nobody wants these little beast flying around their home. To ensure they don’t come back,as they do like wet soil. After 3-6 months I apply a tablespoon of the systemic to each and every plant in my collection. To lighten the cactus mix add equal parts perlite to improve drainage.
I use this soil for everything Not just cactus and palms and the such Honestly a lot of these bad reviews, to me, seem like an overwatering problem Perhaps the mentioning of fast draining gives the impression that you can or should water often My recommendation, cut your watering in half Even if you don’t have an overwatering problem I think you’d be surprised how long plants can go without a drink Just something to consider I know every situation is not the same I’m generalizing
Good for succulents and my Cactuses are thriving. Very low moisture no molding. Very please with the outcome so far. I do this it maybe causing my cacti flimsy instead of strong where they don't have to be stakes to stand.
Miracle grow is the best, in my opinion. I purchased this soil because I have several cactus and succulents. They seem to love this soil, as the are all growing like crazy, and they're healthy. I would recommend this soil for your cactus plants.
The two bags had been taped together with clear, packing tape when trying to remove the tape one of the bags ripped open on the side and dirt poured out all over the floor. The item itself is great, but the packing was poor to say the least.
I have no complaints with the product itself, but one of the bags was only about half full. There was none in the box in which the bags were shipped and I can find no hole in the bag.
only one bag was in package, not 2... Called %26 they refunded for another plant related product, not this one??? They let me keep the one bag that was in the package, so I didn't complain that refund was less, because it was for the wrong item... have not used, but I like miracle grow products!
I bought this a few months ago and we noticed gnats all over our house for the first time. We were told by horticulture friends that they were fungus gnats and we needed to dispose of the soil and replant. We completely rinsed off our plant to the root, put the soil in a plastic bag and threw it away outside. We bought another bag of the same soil and THEY’RE BACK! I don’t know where the product is becoming contaminated, but we won’t buy it again. What a headache!
Definitely not for succulents and cacti. this is regular potting soil. I usually love miracle grow products but this is false advertising! Using this will kill your succulents and cacti as it provides no drainage material such as perilite or pumice or gravel. This will cause root rot!
I order this item before going on vacation and had to end up going to purchase soil at Wal-Mart. When I went to return the item, NO Wal-Mart would take them item back because the UPC number on the item mailed to me does not match the item on the receipt. I went back and forth with this item trying to return it. Wal-Mart.com said I can take it to any Wal-Mart to return and Wal-Mart kept saying the UPC numbers does match although the description is the same.
