We utilize this soil with a lime tree that unfortunately got hit by a late frost, but we also used on new lemon and lime trees we purchased. So far it has brought the one lime tree back and the other trees are doing quite well with this soil. We are so pleased. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I love this stuff. Used it for all my cacti and succulents that i buy on clearance and need some tlc, both in pots and in ground and I saw my babies get stronger and healthier in a matter of weeks. The color was nice and vibrant and most of the scaring had gotten hidden away with all the new growth in a matter of months. They began to flower in season and now 6 months latersome are sprouting pups.
I recommend using your garden cart for hauling this huge bag around the plants. I not only used this on my ALOE VERA plants that were struggling from being freeze burnt earlier but my other plants not even listed on bag. My improved Meyer lemons trees should really perk up now. Looks like a black mulch but did not seem to leave any stains like black mulch does on my hands. Made my soil around plants look really good and worked in nicely. I dont have a green thumb. In fact I'm the type of person that has tried and tried again to grow the simplist plant successfully and failed. I use a mixture of regular Miracle grow potting soil and fast draining cactus/succulent soil. I have a variety of plants from normal garden flower to spider plants, purple heart, spider plant and even my hanging Ivy plants. Every single one of em loves this soil. I can tell their happier, healthier and absolutely exploding with growth. I highly recommend using Miracle Grow products.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This soil is so rich! The bag was still quite heavy so I didn't really notice the advantage of the new shaped bag but that wouldn't keep me from buying it. It has great, clear instructions on the back. I just couldn't get over the richness of the soil and I know my citrus tree and cactus will thrive. It will be a real test because my cat had about ruined the poor cactus and an early freeze froze all the budding leaves on my tree last spring. I took before pictures and will post the after pictures believing miracle grow will liven them up so they can thrive.
I recently tried the Miracle Grow Garden Soil for Cactus, palm and Citrus. I live in a desert where plants and cactus grow...its amazing how our soil isn;t enough. I have planted cactus and palms before and not had success. I was pleased to find this type of potting soil. It is dry and contains sand like the natural soil we have here. So far, my succulents I planted are doing well. Our pots are outside and with this soil and the dry air they seem to be thriving. The soil is light and airy and seems to work well. I recommend this potting soil for cactus and succulents! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have several cactus/succulent plants... I'm guilty of "over caring" for my plants and tend to over water cactus/succulents. killing dozens this way over the last few years Miracle Gro Cactus, Palm, and Citrus potting soil solved all that, it holds the perfect amount of moisture to allow the plant to grow yet not so wet that the plant rots! LOVE this stuff! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I purchased this product assuming it was the same as the smaller bag of cactus soil. It's not. This product contains no pearlite and retains way too much moisture to be reasonably used for cacti. The product also smelled too strongly of manure to have possibly been properly composted.
I got this product for a lemon tree that needed repotting. I repotted it and a few days later I had baby mushrooms growing in it. I have no mushrooms in my area so I didn't transfer them and there was no problem with the soil it was already in. I also used a fungicide but the mushrooms keep popping up. The miricle grow I purchased must have already been contaminated. Definitely not something I will get again. I just hope I can wash the roots off enough so the spores from the dirt don't spread to the new soil I'm going to have to get to change this out. Otherwise I'll have to this the tree out and start from scratch. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought a 1.5 cu. ft. (42.47 L) bag of this product from a big box store to transplant my seedlings. To my surprise upon opening the bag, the whole top third or half of the bag is covered with so much of what seems like spores, yellowish mushrooms growing on one the side and dead brown mushrooms on the other. The dead mushrooms have roots that are interwoven that held the whole chunk of soil kept its shape when I shuffled the bag to see if there's any usable soil. The spores and mushrooms go beyond the surface of the soil--they actually make up the top portion of the bag. Since there's so much contamination, I'll have to throw the whole bad away. I'd like a refund please.
