I haven't played much, but the unique design style gives you a different approach to the classic FPS game (light on the "S"). From what I've heard, there isn't a great deal of replay value to the game, but the initial trip through has been tons of fun thus far.
Found this XBox 360 game on walmart.com for under $20.00 (2 weeks before Christmas) Was on my son's Christmas wish list. I did pay for the shipping to my home (rather than Walmart store) and it was well worth it. I had it in hand a few days after I placed order online. He is really enjoying this game.
The game is around 10 hrs or so but is so much fun. It feels different than other games i have played. I love climbing and jumping around high things so needless to say this is my type of game.
Mirrors Edge is easily one of the most original games to be released in some time. Unlike most first person shooters on the market, Mirrors Edge is concentrated around the environment and ways to progress through the maps. While you still get to shoot some enemies the game is more geared towards how you as the player will choose to complete the challenging task in front of you. This game is clearly in its own class and is one that any 360 owner should consider buying.
This game is really good especially for the price of only 20 dollars. The biggest issue i have is that there is so much white it can get irritating but other than that it's a nice change from your average first person game. The story and gameplay are great but the campaign is a tad too short.
Mirrors Edge is a very unique-feeling evasion game, where you run across the city skyline, delivering important info in a 1984-esque world where government agencies control all information. Once every chapter, there is a very exciting chase sequence, where your skills are tested, with wallruns, slides, huge leaps, and even disarming men with shotguns. This game had my heart racing at times, with intense situations of running from the man. A very cool and helpful aspect of the gameplay is the red items that are all over. These items help you see where to go next, and how to get there, the game would be too overwhelming and confusing without the color coded help. Like others have stated, the replay value is not very great, by the time you finish the story, you might be pretty bored with the concept. Overall, for the rollback price of $20, I thought it was a fun play, with plenty of innovations for the gaming world to take notice of.
Please be careful to note that this game deals with taking lots of risk that result in death to learn your way through the game. Playing should be offset by healthy talk about living and making reasonable decision about life risks. I understand that it is just a game, but the graphics are so real that I didn't want anyone to forget that it is just a game that you should not act out in real life. protective dad!
If you want a game that will be really realistic then buy this! It has some matrix defects to. To slow down to fight crime and save the city.
Good - vibrant, colorful atmosphere - unique gameplay, & multiple ways to get from A-B - you can go a whole game w/out using a gun, provided you can take down enemies Bruce Lee style, or simply run from them - the time trials and speed runs can be fun, but won't keep you interested long - unlockable concept art, and various other tidbits normally only found on "Limited Edition" games Bad - not much left to do after completing the game - no online play (besides tracking/ comparing your times on speed trials). - pretty short Fun game no doubt. It stresses that you keep moving; which makes your actions flow smoothly, but it also causes you to fly through the game quickly.
You have to hand it to DICE for "jumping" into wild territory with this first-person platformer that rewards you for NOT relying on shooting. No other game got me feeling the way this one did as I dashed, slid, and soared through the city skyline for the first time. It could have been a genre-defining title the way Halo defined shooters on consoles, but here the execution falls short of that goal, much like you'll be doing a lot of falling in the game. Doing Prince of Persia acrobatics from a first-person view is indeed immersive, but it makes navigating a lot harder, so you have to look long and hard to find that one route through the level that keeps up your momentum... which you often can't do because you're either on a timer or being shot at... and then nail every move in that route perfectly or fall and have to start over. It becomes a trial-and-error that's more frustrating than it's worth. The whitewashed palette is a nice artistic touch, evoking a THX-1138-style dystopia, but it makes courses look awfully homogenous and makes your path blurry, even on an HDTV. After going once through the story and a few time trial courses, I'm done with this game. While I'm glad I experienced it, I'd suggest you rent before you buy.
