I had these grab bars professionally installed so I can't really rate the ease of installation as a DIY project. What I especially like is the rubber backing on each grab bar. They should help to prevent slipping when grabbing the bar. I like the design too.
I have MS and am very unsteady and I needed grab bars for my new home. I put 2 grab bars in the shower, and a 3rd one that held shampoo. They are wonderful. They have a rubber backing that allows a very secure grip. I feel safe. Then I added a grab bar with a towel rack for when I get out of the shower. What a great idea! In the toilet room, I put one long one horizontal to the toilet to pull myself up with and another elbow shaped one next to the toilet. The style is wonderful and now people comment on how great they look! The only complaint I have is I can't find other bathroom fixtures in the same style. Love them!
Hung this in main bathroom. Doesn't look like a handicap bar.
We are very happy with all our Moen fixtures. Lifetime warranty is a huge plus as well.
Took me 3 hours to get it diagonally into the shower. Moen engineers must get a good laugh from this product. Extremely tight/obtuse tolerances with the end caps vs. the screws into a studs in back of the tiles. Had to use a combination of drivers + pliars + time to turn them into the wall/stud. Beautiful + nice but an extreme pain in the ___! ~~Watch your fingers. :)
The tiny set screws are very difficult to handle it is far too easy to loosen them until they fall out, this is apparently a normal problem as you supply 2 extra set screws. There must be some engineering genius that can come up with a better mounting procedure such as a bolt protruding from the mounting bracket with a nut and cap on the bar. The bar seems to be solid but only time and use will tell.
