I had use Monostat 1 before and thought the stinging just about as bad as it could get. I skipped the Monostat 3 and went directly to the 7 thinking it had to be milder, but not only did it sting a lot, although not as much, it is really messy and as soon as you insert it it starts to drain out. Perhaps the Monstat 3 with the solid insert or the store brand of the same would be better as it would take time to dissolve. Next time I'll buy some pill I saw online and hope that works and doesn't get my stomach upset.
