Works Great and it's easy to use. You get a quick conformation if the cable your testing passes or fails. It will also tell you if it's open, shorted or crossed.
I upgraded my internet service from 100Mbps to 600mbps. When I ran speed tests on my wired desktop, I was still maxing out at 100mbps. I ordered this tester to test the patch cables I had created several years ago. There were 3 cables between my desktop and my modem. What I discovered was network cable RJ45 connections are forgiving up to 100mbps. I found a problem on all 3 of the cables (crosses, opens and shorts). Apparently 3 of the 4 pairs can have continuity and you can still hit 100mbps. It's when you need to go >100mbps, you need to have all 4 pairs perfect and this tester helped me find the problems. I did not have the issues with the tester staying on as one reviewer had. It auto powers off after you run a test. My only complaint is the 9V battery cover has a screw and is not convenient to open. With 9V powered devices, I usually flip or disconnect the 9V battery when I'm finished using it to prolong battery life.
