THE BEST VEGETARIAN BURGERS !

Reviewed in the USA on 2020-10-15T17:00:00

We have been vegetarians for many years and have pretty much tried all of the meat substitutes there are. These MorningStar Farms INCOGMEATO burgers are the absolute best. We all loved them and hope they become easier to find in our local stores. They have that char-broiled taste. So delicious.

best plant burger

I always preferred Boca to Morning Star veggie burgers, but this one is the best I've ever tasted. Follow the directions exactly and it will turn out perfectly. I seasoned it with onion powder and garlic pepper.

Hands down, the best meatless burger.

I have been looking for a veggie burger that tastes like meat. This one is delicious. Hands down one of the best. I like it better than beyond meat brand and this one doesn't stink when you cook it.

OMG DELICIOUS!

I was not sure what to expect when I bought these, but OMG I'm so glad I grabbed them. They taste amazing! I even like them more than the impossible burgers from Burger King. I had a Beyond Burger once and this tastes similar to that, they are both delicious.

Grills like a burger, Great Alternative to Turkey!

This is far better than turkey burgers!!!! We have been struggling with a good 1/4 pound turkey burger, there are none, they are all 1/3 pound and it becomes too heavy, too much. These are expensive but very tasty on the grill!! They did NOT stick and actually had a "greasy" base when they were flipped on the grill! I was afraid of them sticking like the black bean burgers from Morning Star, so I oiled the grill as best as I could, but I didn't need to!!! Now the smell out of the package is a bit off-putting, to me it smelled like dog food. But cooking on the grill, they smelled just like a burger and tasted that way when fully dressed. We did not try the burger alone. It was properly prepared with full dressings, mayo, ketchup, mustard, onion, tomato, lettuce, pickles.....just like we would with a turkey burger.....and I LOVE them. Light and very tasteful. Our whole family cannot eat beef or pork due to the Alpha-gal disease....darn ticks. This is a great alternative and I'm looking forward to more plant based meats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grilled perfection

These Morning Star Incogmeato burgers were really good. I grilled them and the burgers turned out great. This was the first time trying this brand of plant based burger, and I will definitely buy them again. They are very juicy and have a wonderful beefy type flavor. The only slight downside, is the middle of the burger had a bit of a creamy texture, not firm. But that was easy to overlook. I'm not vegetarian, but our family doesn't eat much meat so I've tried a few different brands of plant based burgers. This is one of the best available at Walmart.

tastes like real beef

I've heard of and eaten Morningstar Farms products but I hadn't heard of this before getting to try it free for honest opinion. It's hard to find plant-based meat that tastes like real beef but this one does.I ate one the day I bought it and then the other one a couple of days later. I added my own seasoning and my husband grilled them on the grill which didn't take long at all. They can also be cooked on the skillet. They come out tender and juicy. I like that they have less fat than regular beef, they're a great source of protein (21 grams), a great source of fiber (8 grams), and only has 1 gram of sugar. The only thing I didn't like was the price but I know that plant-based food is expensive

Decent but Nothing Special

To preface this: I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. I'd like to be eventually but right now I'm a "flexitarian" at best. I try to make vegetarian choices often because of ethics, but I do love the taste of meat. I've had both the Beyond Burger and the Impossible Burger multiple times and love them both. Right off the bat, I can tell you this burger is not as good as them. It doesn't taste like beef at all, so it also tastes nothing like the Impossible Burger. It is a little like the Beyond, though. It has a similar wang to it that's kind of reminiscent of a chicken or turkey burger. However, it's a lot more subtle and it takes several chews to show up at all. Honestly the Incogmeato burger tastes like nothing mostly. It's bland even heavily seasoned, but that's not a terrible thing. That also means it's not offensive, which is great considering how many veggie burgers I've had that were HIGHLY offensive. Beyond taste, they got the texture right. It has the density and chew you want in a more meatlike veggie burger, and it even cooks up pretty good. Just be warned - it smells bad while cooking. I don't know what chemistry happened but it smells almost identical to the Beyond raw, smells absolutely terrible cooking, then smells okay but completely different when done. It's weird. Just keep that in mind so you don't immediately throw it out. Weird quirks aside, it's an okay burger. Taste is okay and it gets bonus points for actually being in my small town Walmart. It just tries too hard to stack up (and I mean way too hard - the packaging, taste, and appearance are all obviously trying to replicate Beyond's). If you're wanting something mild and widely available, I totally recommend it. If you're a picky meat-replacement die hard or have other good options on hand, it probably isn't worth your time. I probably wouldn't get it again. If I want a good veggie burger, I'll stick with Morningstar's garden veggie or spend the money to get an Impossible Whopper or Beyond Burger at Hardee's.

No substitute for Beyond or Impossible

This product appears to be intended as a competitor for Beyond Meat and Impossible, but for us, it does not stack up. It cooks up very dry, and it doesn't brown like those other premium veggie burgers or like real ground beef. The taste was extremely meh, and I honestly had trouble choking down the whole thing. I probably would not buy again even if on sale, and certainly not at the premium price I paid to sample this new product. A surprisingly poor effort by Morningstar Farms.

Not for me

Personally I am not a fan of these at all. The texture was ok but they just taste gross. I couldn't even finish my burger. I seasoned it and put on condiments and all the toppings. Also they smell bad. I left one in my refrigerator after I'd open the package and it stunk it up. With vegan meats it's good to try them and see what you'll like but don't go trying this with high hopes.
