I have had this phone for about 4 weeks now. I have been a Moto Z Force 1 user since they came out and haven't even thought of going a different direction. When the Z2 came out, I wasn't impressed, same with the Z3. I have just been buying Z Force 1 phones because it fits my needs so perfectly. So I finally decided to upgrade to the Z4 since the Z1 was too hard to find without being used. It does take some getting used to and I was skeptical for a couple days. The in screen fingerprint reader is a real learning curve (for me in my 40s anyway). I am still having to get used to having to lock the phone with the power button, after years of being able to use the fingerprint reader to do it. The elongated screen compared to Z1 also is taking some getting used to. In the end I am glad I made the switch and put forth the effort to get used to the new feels. The camera is just flat out awesome; professional quality images in every aspect. They made it easy to be able to uninstall a lot of the bloat that Verizon installs, and the stuff you can't uninstall for whatever reason, can be disabled so it's like it isn't there anyway. Battery is good. I get up around 6ish use my phone all day, emails, calls, texts, internet and other apps on the 4G network and it is good until after midnight with about 20% left. I have not done the 5G thing yet, so I can't speak to that but anticipate it will be great. It still has the features to activate the flashlight by chopping motion and the camera by a simple twist of the wrist, even when the screen is off; so those are nice qualities for me. After reading some other reviews, I am going to miss the shatter-proof screen; I better just keep my insurance up because I was rough with the Z1 and it was a trooper all the way through. I dropped it from countertop, chest levels, and several hip level times, no scratches or cracks on that screen. Optical Image stabilization works really well, no need to even have to try to remain steady, the phone does it all for you. Of course all the mods work as verified. The 25mp selfie cam is a little much for me since I just cover it with a camera cover sticker anyway, but to each their own. The display is very clear, I'm very impressed with how good it looks with an extremely vivid view. Headphone jack is back, thank goodness. That was one thing I didn't like about the Z1, glad to see it is back. All in all, it does take some getting used to with some learning curves that sometimes make me regret changing, but after a few days I was able to work through most of the bigger curves and am at a point right now that I am glad I did. I am sure within a couple more weeks it will be like all my previous phones and just become second nature. SO I am satisfied and would only recommend it if you have a few days to get used to the nuances and can deal with learning curves of doing stuff, but if you buy a different phone you would probably have that anyway.
My fiancee likes it better then her s8 and you can upgrade it to 5 g later on. Not expensive but fast as I need it. Best thing is the flashlight just shake the phone twice it comes on and the thing just feels expensive but isn't compared to other s . And if it's for a kid they wouldn't get tired of buying attachments the projector alone is enough to blow their minds away!
Have had it for a week now. I have always had Motorola phones and loved them. This one has some good points and not so good. With same usage does not seem to hold charge as long as my z2 force. Also I have registered two different fingerprints and they don't work with a case or without a case. Which is a bit if a problem for me as I use fingerprint to sign in too online banking. Picture quality is nice and clear.
After using (and being quite happy with) a Droid Turbo 2 for 3+ years, I just couldn't help switching to the Z4 when it was offered for a low promotional price. So far, it's been a great phone. Positives: Bright, spacious screen with plenty of real estate. 128GB integrated memory, *and* an SD expansion slot (I plugged in the 64GB card I'd had in the Droid with all my music, and it worked fine). The mid-range processor is perfectly adequate and hasn't stuttered or lagged for me yet. Love the headphone jack. Love the Moto gestures - I mostly use the flashlight and camera ones. Good camera. Almost-stock Android, without too much extra junk. Great battery life - it's rarely below 50% at the end of the day. No complaints from anyone about call quality. Negatives: The in-screen fingerprint reader is finicky at times, which can be frustrating when I want to unlock the phone quickly. The proximity sensor isn't as responsive as what my Droid had to wake up. Not a popular phone, so the selection of protective cases is limited. Conclusion: A great device that does everything I need it to at a fraction of the price of other flagship phones.
I'm a Motorola fan. I needed a new phone, this new Z4 Is a little hard trying to navigate the page or pages. My zoom and video recording s are not what I expected. And the return to last page is also hard to navigate. The only good thing is my original case fits. Not loving this one. Sorry time to reinvent the Moto!
I've have this phone 2 months, switched to Moto Z4 because my wife is on her 3rd Moto and she has some cool mods. She has the Z Play and I got the Z4. My phone fell, about 3 feet, in a case with a glass screen protector and there isn't a knick at all on the phone. Just the drop did something to the phone to make the screen completely unreadable. I will agree, this is not a very durable phone at all and I'll likely move away from this model (if not make) as well. A handheld, mobile device made to be with a person and used every day, several times a day needs to be a lot more durable then this one apparently is. Also, the fingerprint sensor never really worked well and when the phone did work I was very angry about trying to unlock via fingerprint.
I bought this phone in the beginning of July. After 2 days the phone started to not work. I would make a call and I could hear the other person, but they could not hear me. I took it back to the store, in another state, and got a replacement. About 2 weeks ago it started not working again, same problem. I went back to the store and got a factory replacement. This past Monday I received my third phone. I'm once again having the same problem. This phone is horrible. DO NOT BUY!
I have been through three of these phones and each one of them is very sensitive, not sure why but they did take away the unbreakable screen, please be aware that if you drop the phone it will break/ screen. Other than that in the sound works flawlessly.
After being a HUGE fan of my Z2 Force for the last 2 years and showing off my moto mods to everyone, I had to get the Z4 so I could keep using my mods. What a nasty surprise that unlike my indestructible Z2, it only took one drop of the Z4 (while in a case?!?!) this phe was totally wrecked. The glass did not shatter, but the LCD digitizer behind the screen fractured and that was it. I most mad because I felt like the insurance I paid for on the Z2 was a waste, so I decided to not take out insurance on my now dead Z4.
So I just received a survey from Motorola about this phone and then I wasn't really asked about the true issues with the phone. Well here it goes. The phone drops calls or doesn't complete calls almost daily. The call volume fluctuates in most calls. We live outside of cell service and use Wi-Fi calling and I miss calls and text message most of the time. I should have kept my old busted up s7. No expanded memory, poor unresponsive controls, have to restart almost everyday. Has to on charger at least twice a day just to last 12 hours
