This Broadway cast album recounts the music from a minor 1992 musical based on the 1982 film about the appearance of a swashbuckling but drunken movie star (rather like Errol Flynn) on a live 1950s television comedy show (rather like Your Show of Shows). Composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens previously had succeeded on Broadway with Once on This Island. Working with a cast led by comedienne Andrea Martin, Lainie Kazan (re-creating her role from the movie) and, as the troublesome star, Tim Curry (of Rocky Horror Picture Show fame), Flaherty and Ahrens provide standard Broadway musical comedy fare.
