[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure how well this would work for my goats, as it was a little smaller than I expected, but I was delighted to find that the design works great! It holds the copper bolus snugly, and with the removal of the little cardboard collar, it releases it perfectly.
I bought one of these about a year ago to administer the small copper boluses to my goats. I have told everyone and have ordered another and several for friends!! Great quality, small enough to fit a 2gram copper bolus into the mouth of Nigerians. I can even fit 2 2gram side by side for my adults!!
I was given one of these pillers by my cat's vet a few years ago. When it went missing, I was so happy to find it available on this site. It is the best pill dispenser, I've ever used. I'm surprised it is not more widely available! Ordering/shipping were easy and speedy.
Pretty straight forward and works as it should. We use to administer the copper boluses to our goats, It allows the goat to swallow the bolus without chewing them up.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well for what it is needed to do, because it is plastic it is easy for it to get chewed on when administering the pills, but it is also very affordable because of this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a back up bolus gun. Not a fan but if you are on a budget, the bolus fits perfectly in this tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Plastic Balling Gun, small, that came with the order was functional but did not stand up to a direct bite from an adult goat.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had well over 100 head of lambs to use the "small balling guns" on. I bought two guns, so one could be filled while the other one was being used. They were both wore out before I was half done. They were working well before the dispensing end would no longer hold the bolus. I think they also need to be 1 inch longer to make sure the bolus is put down the animals throat. I had several lambs spit the boluses out of their mouth. A solution might be to design a shorter "calf-type" bolus gun (made with the harder plastic material) with a small enough dispensing end for the "Goat Copper Bolus for adults" product to stick in.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you do not insert the bolus gun just right the sheep can easily crack these with their back teeth. A metal bolus gun, while more expensive, is a better and more sustainable option.
This size is too short for a pygmy and a Nigerian dwarf, can't get it to the back of the throat. Also the plunger falls out if you don't hold carefully!
