Great for everything, this dehydrator is especially perfect in that its top drying temperature is optimal for the safe dehydration of jerky. I am so glad to have purchased this model for that reason.
Awesome dehydrator! My family grew up using the gardenmaster and I got one now that Im on my own. Works fantastic drying food. I highly, highly recommend this product whether you are new to dehydrating or experienced.
The dehydrator looks good, have a large capacity and works well. I dried sweet potatoes, Kiwi fruits, Mangos, Bananas, pineapples and Lemons. Most of them takes about 6 to 8 hours. The machine is pretty quiet but the heat maybe too much in the kitchen, I leave it in the laundry room overnight.
I love this unit. My old one finally died after about 10 or 12 years. The ability to stack multiple trays is wonderful. You can use one or two trays for short run or you can stack ten of them. A+.
This dehydrator works great. The only thing that keeps it from a five star rating is that the noise level is a little on the high side. Another brand that I have is very quiet but doesnt dry as well. I would recommend getting the screen trays. They make clean up super easy and offers more control for putting the dry product into jars or bags.
I've only used this once thus far, and I'm not convinced this was money well-spent yet. I believe my problems were user error, as I have zero experience with dehydrating food, and the book this unit comes with is not very helpful. I had 3 trays: apples, herbs, and paprika peppers that I needed to dry crisp enough to grind them into powder. Apples were a success, but the other items I finally pulled out of the dehydrator after 22.5 hours and finished them in my toaster oven. The next day, I checked the temperature of the unit at several settings, and it was heating properly, hence my thought that I mixed foods that varied too much in temperature requirements. Also, it is noisy - too noisy to run in my kitchen. It got moved to our sunroom so I could close the door. I'll have to keep trying: next up will be beef jerky after I've researched how to do it. At this point, I wouldn't recommend it if you are a newbie like me.
The device works well so far. I've only used it twice. Only bummer is that it was supposed to come with two fine "mesh" trays, for smaller items and two solid trays for wet things; mine came with only one of each. I did purchase the additional 2 year warranty, and will try to figure out how to proceed.
Id give this item 0 if it were possible. I bought one unit and extra trays. It worked magnificantly for 2 months then the unit stsrted making a very loud noise that was unbearable. Cleaned it and still made the noise. Returned it to walmart and it was replaced. Walmart was great. However, the 2nd unit just now melted itself basically. The unit was set to 145 what i normaly do and have done for this past year. Ive maybe used it 10 times. Woke up in the morning and digital display was fried and wont turn on. Its a dhame i like the timer and when this unit did work it worked well but 2 strikes and its way past warranty now. But only using it 10 times each unit and both failed. I still have a nesco from 1999 that works great but was too small. They dont make them lije they used to. All the food came out brown looking as well as all the trays warped.
I followed the directions , filled all the shelves and set the temp and the timer. Looked at it a couple of minutes later and the screen was dark. It shut off and I couldn't get it to turn back on. Walmart was great. They are sending me another one should arrive tomorrow. Will try again.
I thought this would be a great dehydrator. Easy to use and I liked the timer. I dried cherries which take a long time. After 36 hours the top trays were dry. Unfortunately, I didn't check the bottom 2 trays. The way it was supposed to work was the air was forced down. The bottom 2 trays weren't dry. My old Nesco dryer, all trays were dry. So don't buy this. It's a lovely idea. Doesn't work. Unfortunately, since I used it, I can't return.
