I have been using this dehydrator for two weeks now EVERY DAY experimenting with fruits and veggies. Very pleased so far. Beyond easy to use. Easy to clean. Already wish I had ordered additional drying trays but will take of that soon. Comes with 5 trays but once you get hooked on the process you want to dry everything in sight! Two "fruit leather" and two inserts with smaller holes allow any type of food/liquid to be dried. Thermostat makes setting temperatures easy. No off/on switch. You won't need it. Just unplug when checking on food or when finished. Price for features verses others was good and the deciding factor when buying. Comes with helpful handbook on preparing different items along with guidance on temperatures for them. Drying time has been longer in most cases than noted but that is caused by a lot of factors. Usually start the process b4 bed and finish around waking up although moister items can take up to 12 hours to be ready. Enjoying this so far. Would recommend. Using to make light weight items for hiking and easy storage at home and camping.
Made in the USA whoa! Anyhow this thing works great. I've made 6 pounds of jerky on this already and my wife has made dried fruit. It works great, it's quiet, and obviously a quality appliance.
I like this dehydrator because it is compact and well made. It has a temperature control button. they throw in 2 plastic sheets to dry liquids like pureed fruits. also 2 screens to dry herbs plus there is 5 regular trays. This machine runs a bit hot, but I discovered that is normal. There is no on/off button. you have to unplug it to turn off but thats not a big deal. There's a nice manual with many recipe ideas.
I have made just about everything covered in the included recipe booklet. And it all taste delicious. It was quick to make and easy to clean up after. (Added a photo of my peppers and tomatoes) I live it !
i dont like that there is no on and off switch or that there is only a fan blowing from the top not the back. it does so a decent job drying peppers. i haven't tried making jerky yet.
I have dried lots of fruits, some vegetables and have made fruit roll-ups. We are pleased with the results. It does take slightly longer to accomplish the desired results outlined in the instructions. Overall, I am quite satisfied!
The main reason we purchased this product was to dry herbs and the reduced time it advertised. I first use was to dry some basil from our herb garden. The instruction book stated it would take 24 hours on the lowest setting, after 30 hours the basil still was not dried and we had to play with the settings to get the basil to dry.
this machine works grest and has lots of space. i was able to fit a whole can of pineapple chunks on one tray. it also comes with 2 fruit leather discs and a couple mesh sheets for smaller items which i coukdnt find in the box itself. my only complaint is that some trays bow up in the middle making them not level. i also have at least one tray that has a gap in the plastic bars, have 2 trays still dehydrsting so im not sure if the others have this too. kinda disapointed in the quality for an $88 machine
I have an old unit - has been great for years. New unit has thin plastic drying trays that warp when you wash them. Useless. They probably saved a fraction of a penny by going to these trays.
