I installed this myself. Make sure you watch the installation videos. Once installed, it quickly installed into GOOGLE HOME. I have several google displays. I love that I can view the front door from any of my displays. A little pricey. But good things come in small packages.
I upgraded from one of the competitor video doorbells. I was really impressed about how my experience improved from one to the other. The picture quality is great and I receive less false positives when it comes to motion detection. I am very pleased with my doorbell and other NEST products that I own.
The small unassuming form factor belies the robust set of features and provisioning for ease of installation. Works great with other Google Assistant enabled devices. The installation is simple, even in an older house, and the integration with other elements of the Nest system is automatic and painless.
Started out with a different smart home system and switched over to Nest because I have had such good results using their smoke detectors and cameras. Decided to go with their doorbell and absolutely love it and its features- don't know how I lived so long without one...it was worth the wait!
I purchase Nest Hello as a potential "upgrade" to a competitors video doorbell, which was working, but I wasn't 90% pleased with the product. The Nest Hello exceeded my expectations. The video quality, audio, and motion sensing are all really good. The Nest Aware feature actually works, and is pretty cool when connected to a Google Home speaker.
Clarity and focal range are very impressive compared to previous brand. Motion activity is more sensitive picking up movement further away which is impressive. If it continues to work in temperatures up to -30 degrees as I expect it to as our outdoor cameras do, then this device will be the best on the market!
This is the first video doorbell that actually works with digital doorbells. It seems like all the other video doorbells require you to have a 50 year old mechanical doorbell or make you buy a wireless one from their company. This is the first one that actually seems to work with all styles of wired doorbells. The video quality is excellent and the app makes it so easy to review the video throughout the day. It also make it easy to keep track of family coming and going. I strongly recommend it.
So this is everything you should come to expect from a Nest product. My only wish is that not all of the cool features were not locked within the paid Aware service (or how about having Aware included for paid Google One customers). My only complaint is the how difficult it was to get the wires connected. I had a tight area and no slack. Wish they had alligator screws on back.
This took less than an hour to install. In fact the most challenging aspect of the installation was finding the correct breaker to switch off the power. Beyond that, I had no problem. The on-line video for installation was quick and easy to follow. Not sure how this will stand up to negative 30oC temperatures that we get around here but I hope it survives. If not, Nest needs to look at the product before making it available in Canada. The only problem I appear to be having right now is the inconsistency with the microphone which does not always appear to pick up any sound.
Nest Hello is a decent product. The microphone picks up every breeze and makes it nearly useless to use on a breezy day. So hopefully you can install it in a location where the wind isn't a factor. The instructions and installation do not take into account intercom or newer digital doorbells. You may need a transformer that supports more current and custom hardware to work with it.
