I've had this phone for over 3 years now (!) and still love it! The only reason it is no longer active (I now only use it for wifi or a backup phone), is because LG decided not to update the operating system any longer. Which means that many apps no longer work with it because they no longer support the older android version. It was the fastest phone on the market for a while, and the first to have quad core. Great task interface to post directly from email invitations. Super easy setup, great screen and the size was small enough to fit in your purse pocket, but large enough to view. If LG had decided to continue updating the operating system, I would still be using it! Every time I used this phone in front of someone else, I got complements on not only how it looked, but all the various functions it had, many of them hidden. While this phone was in it's heyday, it was pretty much unbeatable for form, function and beauty. I will miss it very much in my everyday organizing. So, what did I replace it with? Why, an LG V10! Another great phone, even if it is larger than I wanted. The functions this phone has is almost unbelievable, and LG will be upgrading the operating system to Nougat in the fall of 2017. Bought an LG Optimus G to replace an LG Optimus Black I had. This thing has more juice than my first computer which is not all that surprising but pretty impressive nonetheless. Overall a great phone, only downside is battery life. Can offer a few tips though for anyone out there using right now. Download Juice Defender, turn off data/wifi when not in use and use 40% screen brightness if you're sitting down using it for an extended period of time. You will see a major improvement. I'm a fairly heavy user and i'm getting 3 days from a full charge now instead of 1 1/2 - 2.
I was using a Galaxy S III for quite a few months and I have to say this device shouldn't be overlooked when looking for a high end device. The design and build quality are top notch. The display is absolutely gorgeous and makes watching videos a very pleasurable experience. One of my favorite things about this device is the speed of it. All in all I had never been a fan of lg smartphones in the past but this one is worth looking at. Way to go lg
I have only had this phone for a week...and I gotta say that his is the best phone EVER!! I have big hands and big fingers, so, naturally I need a fairly large sized phone to accommodate. Well, after weeks of online research of the latest and greatest Android phones... this phone turned out to be the one I was looking for. It is big enough and comfortable enough in my hand, and is a great size for me to text with..of course I turn it sideways for maximum keyboard size. With it's enormous 4.7" screen, watching Youtube videos and taking pictures is great!! I especially like the panoramic feature in the camera app..very cool! The battery life is very good as well. I use this phone from the time I get up, roughly 5am until we go to bed around 11pm, and the battery still has about 20-25% left..this is after using it to play one of the many games I've downloaded, listen to music, go online, and watch videos, newscasts, etc. This will be the last phone I purchase for quite a while, and, after owning it for a week, would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone!! And, I am picking up a case with kick stand and screen protector on eBay for it!! Way to go LG!!! You have found a loyal customer in me!!
Well recieved the phone in excellent condition , That being said, I know i am kinda "hard" on my equipment, this phone held up a lot better than others i have had in the past. Again.... that being said soon after Rooting it, all sorts of issues starting happening . (and of course AT&T cant have anything to do with me or the phone.) other than that an excellent gift, dont know if i would pay the asking price for it in the store.
I love this phone it is the best android phone I have ever used! it's fast, reliable, and thin. I have had this phone for a month now and I'm loving every moment of it. BUT there is a sofware problem because my battery drains very fast and under usage it shows the Android OS as using 61% of the battery while the display barely uses 19%. On ever other phone I have had the display is the biggest battery hog. LG please update the software and fix this issue because on the Android Central forums everyone is having this problem.
this phone is great. sleek, lightweight, fast...everything you want in a smart phone. aside from the lack of expandable memory (who needs more than 32GB anyway though?), the one thing it loses points for is the shutter sound for the camera. it can't be disabled. or even made quieter. and it's intensely irritating. PLEASE fix this in the next system update.
This is an OK phone once you get used to it. I was sitting in my recliner and the phone slid out of my pocket and went between the cushion and side of chair and hit the carpeted floor. Somewhere on the way down it hit something and the back of the phone shattered. I can't find a cover for it. Right now black electrical tape is covering all the cracks in the phone. It still works fine. I have only had this phone for a couple of weeks. I like it better than my old Iphone but it is definitely less durable.
This phone has great hardware and a lot of good ideas and features were added to android (at least compared to my previous android phone, the Atrix 2) that were terribly implemented and buggy. Dealing with this phone is incredibly annoying. First of all if you get a call while talking to someone switching the call lags, you press the button to switch to the call waiting and it is about 2-4 seconds before the call switches. To make it more frustrating the answer button turns into the hangup button after the call switches so if you hit the answer button twice thinking it didn't register the first time because of the delay it will hang up immediately after answering. If the person you are talking to hangs up while you are trying to switch to the call waiting the phone freezes until the call waiting is missed. The text message function has a nice feature that brings up a preview of the text on your home screen with the option to reply directly from the preview without having to leave your home screen. However the notification of a new text remains after you reply forcing you to go into the texting app anyway to clear the new text notification which really defeats the purpose. If you are in a texting conversation with someone and lock the screen without leaving the texting app you no longer get vibration or ringer notification of any incoming texts. This has forced me to go back to the home screen after every text so that I will be able to tell when the next one comes without staring at my phone. (this does not happen all the time, but the vast majority) Scrolling through the contacts list can be choppy when trying to scroll fast. With the kind of hardware here this is totally inexcusable. Another example of a great idea poorly implemented is a feature that automatically turns down the media volume if headsets are plugged in with media volume at max. This would be nice except I only use my phone as a music player in my car meaning I either have to turn up my phone volume every time I plug in my phone or remember to turn down my car volume so my ears don't get blown off when I switch to the radio or CD player. This feature cannot be disabled. Battery life can be a bit low for heavy users, I just keep a charger with me and plug it in whenever in my car or sitting at a desk for a long time. I am a heavy user of my phone and have rarely had it die before I go to bed. The front screen is invincible... I am tough on my phones and not a scratch on it. The back was scratched by velcro although didn't cause anything but cosmetic damage. Got a nice case for it and now I don't think I could break it if I tried. I have seriously considered trying to sell this phone to buy the Nexus 4 and have the unadulterated version of Android while keeping the awesome hardware and overall quality of the Optimus G (Nexus 4 is very similar) however the lack of LTE capability in the Nexus 4 is a major issue. I am holding on to hope that LG will fix the multitude of issues in the features and software in this phone. If they do it has the potential to be a really top notch phone. Greatness is only an update away
The lgE970 has issues with the SD card constantly mounting and un-mounting on its own. I have lost media files due to this issue. The window always comes on showing such. This is a huge nuisance. I had the same problem with the first phone and sent it in under warranty and the phone sent to me has the same issue. I will never buy an lg smart phone again.
