Easy to Install and Works Great. Using it as an extender to a Linksys Wireless Router. Wish it was all Netgear, but had the Wireless Router first and it still works fine.
Easy set up. Works with non orbi routers as an extender. It extended the Wifi outdoors by 200 feet. Very pleased with the performance.
I bought this a year ago and it extends perfectly the signal to the garage. Snow, Rain, Sun and the thing continues to work flawlessly. I do have it connected via the backhaul to the WiFi 5 Orbi Mesh System. I want to upgrade to the WiFi inside home and I have seen many frustrated people here saying it doesnt work with the backhaul, understandable, Netgear should be more upfront and clear with the product compatibility for the non-tech users. If someone wants to use this with the new WiFi 6 Mesh System, there is a workaround, not as effective and I have not tested it, but Netgear claims at least it will work in some manner and that is to setup this In Extender Mode. I have had a cable internet connection for several years with Time/Warner (now Spectrum). The signal from the Spectrum router was too weak to reach from one end of my house to the other (only 1300 square feet with wooden construction). Even with a LinkSys router, I could not depend on WiFi connections. The Orbi Home Mesh WiFi made wireless connections possible from one end of the house to the other. I just added an outdoor expansion to allow me to monitor my Generac back-up generator through a WiFi app. I needed very helpful Netgear support to complete my installation, but the support was accessible, courteous and knowledgeable.
Functionally, it works great and was easy to add to the Orbi network (I'm using it as a satellite). The only gripe I have is the form factor. It was more designed for setting it outside versus mounting it outside (mounting is possible with the included bracket). I would have liked a more industrial design for wall mounting and an internal power supply.
The setup and startup was easy. Almost too easy. I used all of the auto guided setups and it attached and started working without a problem. I thought, it automatically names itself the same as your network and at that point I could no longer communicate with the unit. So I restarted and did the process manually and named it as an extension, which then worked without a problem. I attached to my starlink network and not an Orbi one that can be managed by Orbi. Other than that it works great. Have about a 200' bubble around my house and shop now
WiFi is pretty good but had to place this indoors because the power cord did not fit into the existing outdoor receptical. I was NOT going to call an electrician.
it appears to be a well made unit. for me right now it does have the desired effect. i have a metal building beside the house and i know that is the problem just having trouble finding the right location for this outdoor unit
Doesn't work with many Orbi systems, but the instructions/manual don't clarify that. The customer support guy on chat was a jerk about it, too, so I don't have a high opinion of Orbi/Netgear right now. Returned it for a refund.
This is a great product but suddenly stopped working, when I took the Orbi down it was full of water. The IP66 water proofing is not adequate for this product and it is now out of guarantee.. Shame because I loved the product Expensive to replace.
