This is my second year using this product and not to mention in Aruba where the sun is intense. There’s almost no scent to it which I love, I don’t like the typical sun block lotion/beach smell. It leaves your skin soft and with a beautiful glow. I have very sensitive skin and this is the only sun product that doesn’t clog my pores or irritate my skin. It’s so easy to apply as well. Come to think of it, I have never had any issues with any Neutrogena products. Just another great product by neutrogena. I highly recommend this product.
I've been using this sunscreen for, I know, 6 years, probably longer! Started using it as a recommendation from my dermatologist. My daughter plays softball and is in the hot TEXAS sun ALL DAY on some weekends. Sometimes the entire ball team uses it. We also have a pool that we enjoy spending time with family. I highly recommend it. We never burn, we tan and it smells great, too!
I love neutrogena products but was very disappointed with this sunscreen. I used it this weekend at the beach. I sprayed it and rubbed it in. I stayed for four hours at the beach. When I returned home, I realized I was burned all over but in splotches. My chest, arms, shoulders and legs are burned unevenly. The best word is that I look have splotches of bright red all over me. I thought this sunscreen at SPF 70 would have prevented this.
If I could give this product zero stars, I would. My husband used the product on our first day in Hawaii. He is very fair and applies sunscreen liberally and reapplies. We were outside for over 3 hours, and he reapplied once each hour. That night, his entire chest and arms were splotchy sunburned. We assumed it was something in the way he applied, although being 51 and fair-skinned, he's not new to sunscreen. The next day, both my husband and daughter used the 70 SPF. My daughter is fair also, and knowing we would be on the beach instead of the pool, we chose the 70 for both. Again, we applied liberally as directed and reapplied. She is burned splotchy, and is very uncomfortable ruining her night, and next few days. I have photos of both, along with the lot #. My husband, from day 2, is as red as I've ever seen him in over 20 years, and has blisters. This after reapplying once per hour?? I purchased this product based on review from consumer reports. Epic fail. It is clear that the product offered NO protection. We have lost at least two days of enjoying Hawaii and a refund doesn't really seem like sufficient compensation. We will never purchase again. The comments on this page have been similar, and yet Neutrogena replied that this is not typical. I beg to differ. We will supply photos of the burns. I do not, under any circumstances, recommend this product.
I was so excited to use the new Beach Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 70. The scent was fresh and made putting on sunscreen quite pleasant. I applied evenly and before I went to the beach. I reapplied after 80 minutes as recommended. Later that night it was clear that I had the worst sunburn I can remember. Not only was my skin the color of a lobster the coverage was that of a candy cane. I had splotches and was in quite a bit of pain from the burn. Though the smell is great I do not recommend this product. I left the beach looking like I hadn't even put on any sunscreen.
I used Beach Defense 70 spray on my arms and legs one afternoon while we were at the beach . Within hours I broke out into an allergic blistered rash only in the areas that were sprayed. It was clearly a reaction to the Beach Defense, as I used another sunscreen all the other days with no problems. Three days later, I'm still covered in a crusty, oozing rash and may be calling my dermo tomorrow. Disappointed in Neutrogena, as I have never had this problem with any of their other products before.
In the summers I work as a lifeguard so I am outside a lot. In preparation for that, I decided to buy this product. I am a long time Neutrogena lover so I thought I would give it a try. About 2 weeks ago I used it for the first time. I was volunteering at an elementary school's field day and it was pretty sunny. I put this product on 4 times throughout the day. Safe to say, that did not due the trick. By the time I got home my chest was beat red. I took cold showers and continued to put aloe on several times. I tried to stay out of the sun as much as I could but I am a lifeguard so I wasn't able to avoid all contact with UV. Every time I went outside I put so much of this on and after 2 days since the original burn, it started to blister. I have never had a sunburn hurt so bad and I am honestly still confused how this happened when I used this sunscreen. Shortly after the blisters started to come the burn elevated to what seemed to be a stage 3 burn. I would attach a picture if I could but it is not pretty. I kept it covered with bandaids when outside but nothing seemed to help. It has been 2 weeks and the burn is healing very slowly. I am from the Chicago area so the sun here is not extremely powerful like in other places. I am also fair to medium skin toned and I usually do not burn very much. Overall, if you are looking for quality protection DO NOT USE THE SPRAY! I now am using the Neutrogena spf 100 in the lotion and it works perfectly! The spray just was not affective.
My Mom and I both have gotten painful slightly itchy rashes from this sunscreen. We have never had an allergic reaction to sunscreen, but this causes painful rash on us both. I tried it 4 months later with the same results, because I thought something else had caused the rash. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction or photo allergic reaction. I usually LOVE Neutrogena products. I don't appreciate Neutrogena's response to the other allergic reaction reports, with a that is not a typical response to our products. Looks like it is a common response.
I bought the beach defense water and sun protection to go to Mexico, my granddaughters and my daughter all had a horrible reaction their lips swelled and all of us got a horrible burn and used to constantly I would never recommend it to anyone. I will be returning all my product where I bought it when I get home
I do not recommend this product for use at the beach. Applied it as recommended several times throughout the day. Despite the mild weather, I burned worse than I ever have in 25+ years of frequent visits to the beach. Very uneven coverage. I now look like a spotted lobster! If left with no alternative, I recommend very heavy (dripping) application more frequently than the every 80 minutes recommended.
