I bought this sunscreen for myself, despite the fact that it is a "Baby Sunscreen", because it had the ingredients I was looking for. I have very fair skin and have had to reapply other sunscreens over and over and still got burned. I did not have to use a ton of this sunblock - it worked wonders! I highly recommend this sunscreen for you and your kids!
I wanted to post a review after reading all the reviews about rashes - it's possible that there is something in there that some people are allergic to - however, I've been using it on myself and my toddler pretty much every day for over a year with no problems. We both have dry skin and eczema and are both redheads. I like that the active ingredient is Zinc Oxide and nothing that has been linked to endocrine disruptors.
My soon has hypo-pigmentation and therefore a very sensitive skin. We leave in the southern-hemisphere where the sun is very strong. We have used this product on him for over a year and his skin has always been protected from the harmful effects of the sun, it feels soft and looks great.
Bought for baby grandson. Daughter very careful with kids' skin and sunburn. Older grandson is 4 and this one is 1 year.
I prefer mineral sunscreens but some are very expensive. I had not seen any of Neutrogena's mineral sunscreens in stores. I was given a sample of this and liked it, so ordered more. It's lotion, not too thick, and needs a bit of rubbing in to make it invisible on skin. I use it on my face and neck over a light moisturizer. It's every bit as good as the way-pricier brands. It caused no stinging or irritation at all and works well.
I'm using this for me, not for a baby. It's a little too runny for me. I prefer a cream to a lotion for consistency. I'm going to try the other zinc oxide product. As a sunscreen it's perfect.
I use it for kids in summer and It does work.No one got burned. Not even slightly. We did have that white zinc pasty look,Totally water proof. Its not easy to spread. Moisturizing before helps to ease the spread. It leaves a blue or white tint on your face so either you wipe it off our rub extra good to help it fade. Three stars because of the white cast. I wish that this sunscreen doesn't leave a white cast which i don't like at all.
As other reviewers have noted, this sunscreen cannot be called fragrance free. It has a definite floral scent to it, which while not artificial smelling, may irritate some. It rubs in fine during application, but is also VERY difficult to wash off after a couple of hours of wear and sweating. While I understand that sunscreen does not fully prevent tanning, I also question this sunscreen's effectiveness. I apply it 15 minutes before going out with more than a shot glass worth as recommended and still find myself returning home darker after being outside (not swimming or being immersed in water) for AT MOST. For reference, I have an olive complexion so neither fair nor naturally very dark. The search for the best sunscreen unfortunately continues...
I have been using the predecessor of this product which was called "pure & free baby suncreen SPF 60+". It had no smell at all and was an excellent product. This new version in SPF 50 has a fragrance even though the label says fragrance free. Could be the ingredient in the new product call, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Flower/Leaf/Stem Juice. If it comes from a flower, it will have a scent. Very disappointed that Neutrogena changed a great product. Please bring back the true fragrance free version of this great product.
We bought this to try on our daughter, being that the price was so high we expected it to be a good product. She did not burn, but she broke out all over and was itchy for a couple days afterward. We use a number of different skin products on her and she has never been irritated from any of them, this made her just misserable, and us too. The cap also broke right away.
